My Pastor stood in front of the entire congregation last sunday, and told us if we did not obey God and give one tenth of our earnings. We will not go to heaven. Before he said it. He was acting like he was receiving that message from God. I couldn't help but to question what I had seen and heard. Am I wrong for questioning my Pastor? I just don't believe that me not being a 100% tither is going to hender me........Is It???? Am I wrong?? I know that the church building needs support from it members to keep functioning, and I give either what I have at the time or what I can. Last Sunday my pastor had everyone who tithed 100% to stand. The reason was. He wanted to do a special prayer for them. When he told them to raise their hands I raised mine too, because I felt he was trying to prove a point by seperating the two. I didn't think it was right for him to do that. If your going to pray for us, pray for all of us. Not just the members who tithe 100%. So again I ask... Am I Wrong????

Your pastor was wrong to single out those who tithe. You are only responsible for what the Holy Spirit convicts, not what the preacher says. I would certainly change churches.

Your pastor instructed you to give 100% of your income for tithes?
There are three possible answers:
1. Your pastor is a madman out to ruin Jesus's image.
2. Your pastor is about to retire, and he just realized he has no pension
3. Your church is in serious financial debt.
Tithing was only enforced in the middle ages to "do the Lord's work". Back then, the Lord's work was education, healthcare and social services.
Today, those areas have been taken over by the Government. The Church doesn't really need a full ten percent of your income...
You're paying your tithes via income tax...

I am an atheist so of course I do not tithe. That does not mean that I am ignorant as concerns tithing. A tithe is 10%. There are three tithes mentioned in the bible. The first is given for the support of the Priests. The second is to be kept for the celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles. At the appropriate time you are to "bind up the tithe in your hand" and travel to the site where the celebration shall be. The third tithe is for Widows and Orphans and is not paid every year. It is paid only every third year.

Your "pastor", if this be true, does not know the Scriptures. If he is receiving "messages" (special revelation) that go against Scripture, time to get out. Tithing is an Old Testament command, and is not for the New Covenant Church. We are told to give as the Spirit moves us, to give generously and joyfully. You need to get out of there, fast. Find a good Bible believing, Bible teaching church. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

I think you should tithe, however, it's between you and God. No, it won't keep you out of heaven. Nowhere can your Pastor back that up scripturally..............however, you'll be blessed if you do. Tithing shows that you really surrender it all.................
He should never have asked the tithers to stand............I wouldn't attend...........and I'm a tither.
Should he have had all liars stand so he could pray for them?

Your pastor proved himself to be a false minister. He just declared a false gospel by his declaration. Christ and the apostles declared quite plainly salvation came through faith in Christ. Your pastor adds to the gospel the requirement to tithe of wages, so now it is "faith in Christ "and" those who tithe."
You have all the signs of a wolf in sheep's clothing, ravenously devouring people through the medium of tithing.
He did what he did in order to shame and cause the rest of the congregation to judge those who did not stand up.
There can hardly be any behavior more ungodly and unchristian than what he did.
Do not go back! Do not participate in his sin. Flee wickedness and those who act wickedly.

No you are not wrong. And I would question the motive of your pastor. God will poor out his blessing on those who give, but he also will poor out his wreath on those who abuse. If you are cheating God, then you might reconsider, but no I don't think for one instant you are in danger of hell, I have always found that when God wanted me to change something or anything he was very able to let me know.

Pagan coaching. The word Hell became by no potential in the unique textual content of the Holy Scriptures. The words used have been in Hebrew and Greek, Sheol and Hades. the two those words recommend, 'mankind's complication-unfastened grave'. undergo in recommendations while Lazarus died? He became ineffective for 4 days, would desire to have been getting surprisingly ripe does no longer you assert? Jesus delivered him lower back from the ineffective and did he ever say he became in Heaven? He by no potential mentioned a word approximately it. If he became, that ought to have been very merciless, to convey him lower back to earth lower back after being in Heaven.

Please post his name and I'll write him a letter.
