I already have 1 credit card w/a $500 limit, through my bank. which is helping me re-establishing my credit now. I got it this past June. I pay way more than the minnimum payment. I have applied for other cards and got turned down due to my low credit score, what other cards can I get besides a prepaid card??? What cards to apply for? My score is really low and have old delinquent accounts on my credit file. I need it for the Holidays. Please Help!

Any place that will give you an unsecured card will most likely be a huge interest rate. I would recommend finding side jobs to get more money. Try craigslist and look for part-time or contracting work.

The best way is saving your cash for the holidays. Getting credit card just make it worst and paying more just for the interest rate. Since you already have a $500 credit limit, using only 10% of credit and pay it off, which help improve your credit score. There are companies like imagine, first premier , and reward 660 offered $300-400 credit line with 9%-14% interest rate plus $10 monthly fee .Good luck!

My biggest advice is not to take out credit if you don't need it. Just use credit when needed.
And for things like the holidays, save for that. The holidays are a big draw to spend more than you have, which is a big mistake.
Another way to increase your score is to pay your old delinquent accounts.
Credit histories are built over time. With your new card getting paid each month (paying off each month is better), and cleaning up the old stuff, your credit will increase with that over time. You will be rewarded at that time to have credit when you need it.

Honestly, if you need to put Christmas on a credit card then you don't need a credit card!

Don't let the holidays suck you in like that. Maybe give yourself a gift this year and work with a credit agency to get all the old delinquent accounts off your file.

They are trying to help reestablish your credit, and you are doing everything possible to prevent that. Every time you apply your points go down, yes you pay more than the minimum but the key is to have your total balance less than 30% (keep it less that $150, paying it off each month is better.) Your delinquents will not come off for 7 years. Guess this year cannot be BMOC for the holidays, or pay cash.

Unfournately the issues with credit scores is a very large problem for most people, and worst yet is that it can take up to 7 to 10 years for that to clear from your credit history.

The only thing I could suggest is to apply for cards that don't require a credit check, however they are hard to find.

If I were your close friend the greatest gift you could give me for Christmas would be a short note on a Christmas card stating that this was all you could afford because you were trying to be a responsible adult and pay down your debt.

I hope you have friends that would feel the same way.

No you don't need it for the holdays - you'll be right back where you started from. You need to limit your spending, and spend only the money you have and can afford. You have the one card with a $500 limit - be sure you don't get into trouble with that one, but do NOT overspend again, on holidays, and get yourself back into financial trouble.
