Or is the blessing for the food only reserved to family dinners?

I know many Christians say a blessing before a well prepared dinner, but not when getting a hot dog on the way home from work.

Isn't fast food also given by God?

It is appropriate to thank the Lord whenever you receive food. There need not be a formal dinner or anything, just when you receive food be sure and thank the Lord. All blessings and good things come from His hand. If someone were to give you something in the world it is always polite to say thank you. How much more appropriate to thank the Giver Of Life itself for His love and kindness?

You should pray over your food no matter where it came from. A guy I know actually got free food for him and his wife at a restaurant one time because he prayed over it before eating it. Someone else saw him do it and paid for his food because he said it was nice to see people still praising God.

I say a blessing for everything I eat, including a peanut-butter sandwich. It is God who provides even though I pay for it.

Most definitely; I try to every time I eat a meal at home or otherwise.

In fact, we should be praying extra hard before we eat at McDonalds! lol Gods peace :)

Like most good things God created, food has been corrupted by man.

Well I do, I am very thankful to have what the Lord has provided. I have also been on the other side, with little to less than little to eat, so I am very greatful weither it be McD's or anyplace else.

We should say them all the time, however we often get sidetracked and forget to say a blessing. We are sometimes slow to remember of whom we owe every thing we have too.

I thank the Lord for everything He gives me to eat. I know that everything is provided by Him and I'm grateful.
