Everyone is correct about the cargo hold, and the fact that there is no temperature or pressure control. I don't believe there will be a way to have this happen, but if it is at ALL possible, try to arrange to have the cat be flown in the cabin.

I have a relative who works for an airline, and he has said he doesn't understand why it is allowed to ship your pet this way. However in all fairness, I have had a pet in the cargo hold (I had a 2nd cat on the plane with me and you can only have one), and she is fine...but I was very naive at the time and did not know the facts.

Your cat will go in with all the baggage. I had my 2 Boston Terriers shipped to me with no problems. I will never do it again though. I spoke with a pilot that bought a puppy from me and he said that they have had alot of animals die from being shipped, because no one is taking care of your animal and they get no air flow down there!! They have to ride for hours in a little crate. My friend has also had dogs shipped to her with no problems, but you never know what is going to happen. You should go and pick your kitty up from owners instead of getting him flown in. Or find another kitten just like him that is closer to you. Good Luck with whatever you choose to do!!!

Critters go in the cargo hold, where there isn't ventilation. Airlines won't ship animals if the weather is over about 80 degrees because they can suffocate.
If I were you, I would go get the kitty or find one closer to home.

Most airlines are on the humane society's list of animal abusers. Be very cautious when dealing with the breeder.

If you are not accompanying it, it goes in the luggage compartment. If you are with it, and the carrier can fit under the seat, you can usually take it on board with you. The latter is much better if you can manage it.

They’re in the cargo hold which is neither pressurized nor temperature controlled. I hear it’s not a pleasant experience.
