My family thinks I'm depressed. I never smile. I am the happiest person ever. I have nothing to be depressed about. I took 2 online tests and here are the screen captures of them: http://img89.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ghjkup8.png

I failed these tests. I have no depression according to them. My memere (grandma in French) thinks I should be put in a mental institutional place or so I heard my mom talk about over the phone with my aunt who lives far away. I'M NOT DEPRESSED. They don't believe me and they never have. I've only told what I believe/know is true. How do I change their opinions?

I know how you feel. A couple days ago I went to the doctors and my mom told her I was depressed but I'm not. She thinks im depressed because I don't smile and on weekends I just stay home on the computer. I am trying to prove to her that im not depressed before I have to start going to this counseling program for depressed people. Just try to prove to them you are not depressed by smiling more and do some fun activities with them (oh and laugh alot it helps!) They will probably realize you aren't . Good luck!!

Sometimes people do not know they do have a problem, until that person is the only one left and fending for self.... Is there a reason why they think the way they do? I mean there is two sides to every story... Can or will you be able to function alone when you become of age? I mean there is a lot of questions that are left unanswered... You could have a behavior problem and not know it.... And as a adder, if you live, you will get hurt or be depressed at one point in your life... Problems are everyday.... And everyone has problems... and everyone becomes overwhelmed with them at some point....
I need more questions answered before saying an opinion....
Are you into wearing black all the time? Do you do harm to yourself? Things like this....

SOMETHING...is alarming your mom. In a previous post you stated she was reading your mail. In that post you were very angry...Think really hard about Why they think your depressed. Listen carefully to their response. Maybe you are an introverted person that keeps to yourself? They might view this as antisocial. Do you sleep too much? As long as you don't have thoughts of hurting yourself or others....they can't put you in a mental institution for merely assuming you are depressed. It appears that you and your mom are going
through a conflict. Perhaps it is her and not you that have a problem. Confront her that if she is really convinced that you have a
problem tell her that it may be a good idea for the both of you to see a licensed family therapist. If she dismisses this and puts all the blame on you...then she has a problem. If she agrees then a third party getting involved can help sort things out and help improve your relationship with your mom.

Our personalities are hard-wired into our brains, and if you are a person who doesn't show a lot of expression, well, we can't change your physiological make up.
Your grandmother is going to extremes. I guess the best thing you can do is make an appointment with your regular doctor and take grandma. Let him know she says you are depressed, and you'd like to take a depression test and talk with him, and get his opinion. Otherwise, grandma needs to shut UP i guess?
You passed the depression test, you didn't fail! Knowing you are not depressed at all, gives you one less thing to worry about!
Take care!!!

You don't seem depressed. and as for convincing your family, well.. let's just say that people can be stubborn and refuse to listen to reason sometimes. it sounds like their suspicions seem to have come from out of nowhere. people get like that sometimes. Try watching a few comedy movies with them I guess...

only thing you can do is show them that you are not crazy by doing the thing you use to do before this test.
