I took my car to have new tires put on and my oil changed last Sunday (Oct. 21) (which by the way happened to be my birthday too) to Wal-Mart (my first mistake) and now my camera has come up missing from my car. I know I had it the day before. I can't believe I left it in my car, it was a pretty stupid thing to do, but is there anything I can do? Am I allowed to view the video tapes from that day, would getting a lawyer do any good or am I outta luck.
Thanks, this has really upset me

The reason it has been four days is because I thought I left it at my parents house and finally had a chance to look today and it wasn't there.

More or less out of luck. You can file a report for lost/stolen property but it sounds like it won't go anywhere. Nothing the police can really do here. The last time you remember seeing your camera was 4 days ago?

As far as video or anything else, that is between you and Walmart.

I Have Been Law Enforcement And Am Currently WalMart. I Doubt You Will Get Any Justice, But Id Report It To The Police Just In Case There Is A Pattern Of Reported Theft In That Wal*Mart. Getting A Lawyer And All A That Will Cost You More Than A New Camera. Im Sorry For Your Problem, Feel Better.

You can report it to the police and they can investigate it. Some car insurance companies will cover it. You can even report it to Wal-Mart. They may investigate it to see if it ws stolen from an employee or not. Cover all your options that do not allow you to spend money and if you come up empty handed then chunk it up and never make that mistake again.

go back to walmart and talk to the STORE manager, not the dumb a$$ kid that's the supervisor of the auto dept. See if he can help you. (good luck with that...) If you REALLY want to prosecute walmart then go file a police report noting that you were robbed then take it from there. Personally, i think ur screwed and suing the company is not worth your time since you're not even sure what happened. At least try to talk to somebody at walmart. maybe it "fell out" of your car and they are holding it in lost and found. or not.

If you don't believe you left it in the car, how could it have been stolen at WalMart?
Talk to the manager, if that doesn't help, call the Police and have them make a report for your insurance company.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND YOU ARE HOW OLD??

'i know i had it the day before. i can't believe i left it my car."

ARE YOU POSITIVELY SURE BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT YOU HAD IT IN YOUR CAR?

RETRACE YOUR STEPS FROM WHEN LAST SEEN AND THEN IF YOU DO NOT LOCATE IT IT MAY BE WAL MART.
ASK MANAGER TO SPEAK TO SECURITY.
ASK SECURITY IF THEY TAKE VIDEOS OF THAT AREA? CAN THEY HELP YES THEY DO NOT NEED A CAMERA THEY HAVE A WHOLE SHELF OF THEM. BUT AN EMPLOYEE MIGHT HAVE WANTED YOUR IF YOU LEFT IT. CHECK THE TRUNK TO SEE IT THEY DID NOT HIDE IT FOR YOU?

If you are positive the camera was inside your car when you took it I would go and have a quiet word with the branch manager, he may be able to help you. I would also imagine he would be falling over himself to find the culprit as he would not want word to get out as it would damage business.

reread the policy about not being responsible for items lost and/or stolen. THen speak very nicely to the manager.

Good luck
