saintrose: Maybe you read a different bible than me. In my bible it says the sacrifice was an atonement, or salvation.

Why would god want us to kill animals for his pleasure in the first place? Doesnt that sound like a psychopath?

Actually Jesus' death is the key in us receiving everlasting life through resurrection, not being forgiven of sin...that was accomplished in the Garden of Gethsemane when Christ suffered physical, mental and spiritual pain for the world's sins.
Christ's act of dying was the break the bonds of death for us all, so that we may be resurrected, that is a gift he gave to everyone, saint and sinner.
Animal sacrifices were a Mosaic law, which Christ fulfilled. He made the ultimate sacrifice for everyone, but his sacrifice is meaningless to those who do not hold up their end of the bargain. We must do all we can during this life, following His teachings and being the absolute best we can, then after all we can do, His grace is sufficient to make up the difference of what we lack.

***EDIT - Sin must be satisfied, justice must be "served". Mercy cannot dethrone Justice. Sin must be "paid for" in some way. God knew this and also knew we would all sin, that is why he had a plan for a Savior, Jesus Christ. He paid the price for all sin, because he was perfect and sinless, he was the only one who could do it. He took upon himself the physical and spiritual pain of our sins, how horrific we cannot even comprehend. The sad thing is, those who do not repent will have to suffer for their own sins, even as Christ suffered...

Jesus died for us so as that we'd desire to be forgiven for our sins, and flow to heaven. ~in my view, i do no longer think of that blood is what god needs. i think of that the sacrifices have been in basic terms alternatives. ~additionally, your pal who says that Jesus is so organic that his sacrifice is "sufficient to forgive us all our sins". i do no longer think of thats genuine the two. we are consistently sinning, yet Jesus isn't consistently dying for us. If what your pal mentioned became genuine, then is it ok for us to stay an entire life of mortal sin? Is it ok for us to do the incorrect issues and harm people who love us, simply by fact it relatively is straight away forgiven? ~intercourse isn't a sin-as long because it relatively is shared between guy and spouse!! If Jesus did no longer die for us, our sins might never be forgiven. And once you think of roughly it, God gave up for us a necessary component for us. HIS SON. His Son is the reason you're here immediately. And

The problem with animals was that is covered the sin, each time you lied, cheated, what ever, you would be required to kill another one. The blood of Jesus, was the only man to not sin, it did not cover but removed the stain of sin. I know to you that must sound crazy, but be that as it may, because of his death, we are adopted in to the family of God. Animals covered, Jesus removed.

No a animal sacrifice did nothing more than we do now with sacrament. That is a chance to remember the covenants we have made and who it is that is responsible for saving us. The animals were them selves were not different than the bread and wine or water we now use. Bread and wine alone will not save any one, it is the manner which we use them and the covenants we make that save us.

Are you an animal? No, animal sacrifices were never good enough...God was trying to teach them, that they could never offer enough to be good enough...mankind needed a Savior. God's own Son,,,without sin,,,perfect...was the only acceptable sacrifice...God being Holy, cannot look upon sin,,but when we are saved,,,,he doesn't see us...he sees only Jesus in our place....a perfect sacrifice for our sins. We can enter the gates of Heaven because through Jesus, we are without sin...he covered our sins with his blood..

I would feel guilty that my inability to sacrifice a lamb, led to the death of the son of God.

I wonder why God decided that Gentiles were hell bound BC, but AD they could get in to heaven?

There's not enough animals in this world to atone for all the sin in it!
God wanted to end all sacrifices, so He made Himself man, and took care of it Himself. He loved us so much that He became the ultimate sacrifice for ALL SIN FOR ALL TIME. No animal could have covered that much sin. Jesus was the only one pure enough to do that. That's why He came. To defeat sin and defeat death, and HE DID BOTH! God Bless

yeah...This whole god/sacrafice thing never made sense to me either. Why would "god", who is all powerful, want the creatures he created as companions because he was lonely, to kill other creatures he created???? Or to die themselves for the sake of others like them? It really makes zero sense on many levels.

Christ wanted to show he can give up himself insteaded of give up other creatures life for sacrification. If use other creature's life, will create people only has himself not consider other life equallity.
