this is a question on my social civics that really stumped me.

The statement that " that goverment is best wich interferes the lest" is an expression of individualism.

Is this statement true or false? The question doent ask why but if you would like to explain it to me that would be awsome because i so dont get what its asking.

Yes, that statement is true... because it leaves choices and rights to individuals rather than government interference.

Without getting too picky... this is for your school work, right? The answer your teacher is looking for is "true" with some sort of explanation about government not interfering in individual freedoms.

That is a conservative approach (aka Republican)
it mainly means in social affairs - only interfering
when absolutely necessary - that the first and most
important reason for government is safety from
enemies - keeping the country secure - the second is
protecting basic liberties of the people - like in the USA it
is the basic unalienable rights - first and most important
being to protect the life of every individual. The "smaller" the government, the more personal freedoms each individual has
to worship and say anything they want without fear.
There was an initiative to keep government institutions,
bureaucracy, public square, etc. small to protect freedoms.
For one thing, this helps the situation with separation of
church and state - keep the "state" small to protect freedom
of religion. Some people question whether public schools
are constitutional or not - since they tend to "preach"
secularization - it adds up to too much interference by the
government. Before the depression occurred, there
was no such thing as welfare - the government interfered
since it seemed necessary to have a welfare system - and we see the problems it can create.
So, it refers mostly to social interference.

What that quote or statement is saying is "The Government that is best....is the one that doesn't interfere much with the people." (Meaning affect the people's personal life decisions and right to make certain choices. (In today's world- examples like gay rights, and abortion...)

I believe it's true to a certain extent. I don't believe people should be forced to do something out of their own will.
I don't think "religion" (which i don't believe in- Yes I'm a Christian) should be forced on anyone, and I also don't believe "Ethics of NON-Religion should be forced on anyone."

The Government should do it's job to protect the civil rights of its citizens...- yet, the reason there has been so much debate is because we have the rules we have today because our forefathers were Christian...so the Laws they based this Country's Constitution and other important foundational documents are all based on Christianity belief.

The laws were fair and proper and tolerant of everyone and their own religion and what not.
But since certain aspects of morality in the Christian belief are now "offensive" to many people. They have been trying to remove any part of what they consider "religion" out of constitutional law. But yet, with that, it would remove the morality of the law that's already there....Yet laws HAVE to be in place. And A LAW is a LAW because it has to STAND for something. With every law...there is a reason behind it. So if we say "No smoking in this restaurant" It's because smoking can affect the health of other people, and, perhaps, children, around that person so that law is in effect because of the benefit of most people's health. (with the exception of those people who want to smoke.) So laws are made to protect all people AND the effects it could have on their personal lives. But, since there is so much opposition, everyone wants to be heard these days about what this law is doing here and how it's hurting their lifestyle and so on. But I don't know what the government is doing.
But yes it would be best if they didn't interfere with people's personal beliefs...and just ran the show...unfortunately, that would be a hard job to accomplish without stepping on anyone's toes..because someone will always be offended.
Even moreso it'd be a hard job to accomplish without removing the morality in the laws set.
And for those who still care about life...and the lives of others...they are still enforcing all the laws (unbiased) that our forefathers of this country have set.
And I really don't see what the problem is....the laws are fine.

I think they are trippin.
But? You know how the saying goes...."All good things must come to an end.....- for now at least"

Have a good one

It's a damfool statement, which can only apply in special circumstances.

If the society is happy, employed, fed and healthy, then no interference is required. But if the society is messed up, divided, economically unequal or damaged, then a government is obliged to get involved.

Would you say that the best doctor is one who never treats you? That's only true if you're healthy.

Absolutely true, we need to make our own informed decisions whether we are right or wrong. If the gov't tells us what to wear, what to think, what to do it takes away our freedom of speech and our individualism. Gov't that does the least amount of interfering in our choices leaves us to be a more free society.

The conservatives believe this because they believe in very little governmental control. The vast majority of fundamental Christians are also conservative. They also believe in very little governmental control.

But they want to set up a Christian government. They want to control women's rights. They want to control marriage laws.

It doesn't sound like interfering the least, to me.

"Best" in terms of philosophy is always an opinion.
It's called "laissez faire" government. It always ends up that big business comes out on top and the working man on the bottom.

Sounds like your teacher has been reading Thoreau and others of his ilk.

True, the government shouldn't have so much control over our lives. The government doesn't help the individual.
