Fruit fly epidemic on my fresh produce: Any GREEN solutions?

Yes, add to a jar the remnants of a fruit (like apple or banana) then fit a cone, made out of construction paper or coffee filter into the opening so it doesn't touch any fruit. Make the cone with a little hole at the point. Insert it point down in the jar and tape to the rim so there are no gaps. The flies go down through the bottom hole easily but are unable to find the hole to leave.
