I have heard if you know Standard German, you can learn Swiss-German in a matter of months. Despite it's difficult sounds that they say you need a knot in your tongue to pronounce!
Maybe one of you has had experience with learning Swiss-German?

there is no swiss german as such but swiss german consists of a variety of dialects. the basel dialect is quite close to german for example. i dospeak the bern variety but my german relatives don't understand me at all. some germans moving to switzerland learn it quite fast but most of them never quite manage and following a recent survey the swiss prefer to germans to speaek german in switzerland rather than to murder their respective dialect.

I don't see why not. Swiss-German is a dialect (albeit a very severe one!) and so it's a bit like learning the local words and phrases between one region and another. Good luck!
