I absolutely agree that we are the most complex creatures ever to arrive on earth.
Mostly I think because we have a brain,and we know how to use it. We use it to do so many great things. Human beings created an amazing world and lifestyle for themselves. And that is out of pure intelligence. Electricity didn't just arrive,and nor did the internet, houses didn't fall out of the sky. People with their intelligence invented them, and made them.
We also have developed some bad characteristics such as hatred, jeolousy, false behaviour etc . We even hurt our own kind which is wrong. We want what other people have when we don't need it. We steal to get what we want,or hurt people to get it.
Animals are not clever enough to behave in such a manner,and that makes us so much more mysterious. We know we will die one day and instead of making the most of life because of this knowledge, we worry excessively.
I think it is a combination of nature and nurture where our personality come in. We all live such different lifestyles and no two people live the same life. Nobody can feel another persons feelings. Nobody can step into another persons shoes and feel what life actually is like from their point of view. Yet people are so quick to judge and discriminate without knowing a thing about people. We judge each other on appearance,beliefs,behaviour, etc.
Are we complex?? We sure are,we are simply deep. You can know someone for years and think you know them, and then you find out things you had no idea about them.
Human behaviour/psychology is one of the most interesting subjects.

Some of it comes from the old sin nature I think. Which we inherited down the line of Adam. Physiologically we are supposed to be in balance with our surroundings but because of the fall the whole planet is out of kilter. Creation groans, and so do our body's and minds.
We are complicated though and it's good to know our selves that we are all capable of all the things you mentioned. We all have a choice in how we deal with those things.
I'm not sure Mrs Dolphin would agree, or visa versa.

law of the jungle ( Survival of the fittest ) sees man as the highest survivor at the moment. Conditions might change a few million years from now and mankind may find himself/herself battling against extinction.
