Yes, a lot of our food does come from South America. There are not too places in the United States that can grow bananas. As the United States, is a new exporter in food, I would guess that the country can feed itself.
Certain crops are imported (bananas, coffee, mangos) that will not grow in most areas of the country.
Didn't ever take geography in school? If so, you would know the answer to your question.

Some of the food comes from South America. It doesn't mean that SA "feeds" the USA. It's good that the USA helps those countries by importing goods from them.
However....it seems nowadays we're being poisoned by Chinese food.. go figure. The Communist country that's supposed to be our enemy. And a dangerous one too.

Due to currency valuations and what I've heard euphamistically called 'arbitraging of the labor market,' America is importing a lot more food products than it used to. The continental US still produces more than enough food to feed itself - it just engages in exporting (and even just throwing away) much of that, and importing others.
Most notoriously, fast-food chains have long imported cheap beef from south american countries, like Argentina.

Yes Latin America does grow a large part of food in the United States. Mostly during the winter months.
Food stores are now stocked with fruits and vegetables year-round with the origin and source changing with the seasons.
US also imports food from China...too much if you ask me.
Interesting note .....San Diego county gets some of it's electricity from Mexico.

Read about free trade. That will answer your question. Argentina to mexico, mexico to us, but Argentina is a supplier of meat to the US. But no, Argentina is not one of the main sources of bringing in food to the US.

Immigration is the food for the US. I am Polski and belief is there that we feed US our services and goods. US claim to be greatest, but they mere paupers. We help US become great, but our countries are far greater, because we passion and help others have.
