you would think that if we evolved that they would have found thousands of this half monkey man thing in the dirt at some time. No they have found like one unusual mess of bones. In the bible man and best lived much longer , Noah was hundreds of years old so if lizzards lived that long and never stoped growning they would have been huge. The earth was soo much healther and things lived longer. that is how the earh was. there is no evidence of any species having changed into another species ever. why do they teach this crap in school if there is no proof. Imagine if they tought the real story of creation in schools Adam and the other half of his sole Eve

Creationists make it sound as though a 'theory' is something you dreamt up after being drunk all night.

Evolution is an accepted fact in every developed country in the entire world except for the United States. In a survey conducted in 2000, people from 42 different countries were asked if evolution actually happened. The United States scored 39th.

Are you familiar with the term Homo Sapian? Well, that's us. We evolved from Homo Neanderhalenis. (cavemen) They evolved from Homo Heidielbergensis. There are more than 20 different steps of evolution starting from Homo Habilis, (The Handy Man) the first human to use create and use tools. They lived 2.6 million years ago. The cycle goes the species evolves while the first dies out. It's all documented, it actually happened.

It takes thousands and sometimes millions of years to evolve. Advanced science is practically brand new. Before the 1900's we wouldn't have known if lizards had evolved or not. It's not like we had documented what lizards looked like on the inside when Adam and Eve were around and then periodically check, modern science is just beginning to do this.

If you were interested in actually understanding evolution, you could.

I gather you aren't so I'm not going to waste a lot of time on you.

Evolution takes thousands of generations. Thus, it's only possible to "see" it in our lifetimes in organisms that have really short life-spans.

Thus, drug-resistant microbes (bacteria and viruses) are the sorts of examples we've seen of evolution in action. Some individual microbes are born with a mutation that allows them to survive anti-biotics. That individual is able to successfully reproduce, where the one's without that mutation are killed off.

Whoever told you man evolved from monkeys was either ignorant, or was lying to you. Ditto whoever told you we haven't found fossils of critters that were "transitional" between it's ancestor species and it's decendent species. We've found LOTS of them.

The reason they teach science in school is because science is well-founded -- that's what education is FOR, so students don't stay ignorant.

Teaching myth as though it were true would be wrong; teaching religion in public schools violates the Constitution.

I agree with you. One of my favorite quotes is, "The day I see a monkey give birth to a human is the day I'll believe in evolution." I shouldn't say that, because one of these days some scientist with mental issues is going to take me seriously and stick a human embryo into a gorilla just to see what I'll say about it then. Oh well.

It strikes me as odd that people will believe in the evolution theory (when there is no proof) but say that belief in God is just placing hope in a fairytale, and they won't believe in his existance without proof. Heck, maybe those are the people who actually DID evolve from monkeys.

No offense, but please try to understand the things you argue against before you argue against them. You are grossly misrepresenting evolution, and are not aware of the facts that back it.

Another point of contention, even if evolution were false, that does not prove the biblical story is true. For all we know, it may have gone down exactly as the Egyptians wrote it. Here is a link to the Egyptian creation story http://www.sacred-texts.com/egy/leg/leg04.htm , if you're serious about proving evolution false instead of just defaming it in an attempt to convince yourself that your own religion is true.

I'm not saying that this is the way it happened. I'm just showing you that there are other stories that are older than the one you believe now that were believed just as fervently as you believe your own. You may be surprised at some of the common themes you find, even though the Egyptian story is older and does not make mention of the gods you worship.

Common sense tells most logical people that something can't come from nothing--I've never seen it happen. Those who do not believe in God have examined things using the scientific method and have determined that given an enormous amount of time, anything can happen. I am on your side. If something is in a vacuum is will not change. Evolution happens in a lot of things, but nature is not one of them. I really don't mind being considered an idiot by evolutionists. I wont force them to see the truth--some day every person will know.

There's plenty of evidence I I'm quite sure, every single poster before me has given you a piece of that evidence. It seems to me that you have not even read any of the answers that shares this evidence with you. Take your blind fold off (that's a figurative blind fold) and educate your self, you clearly have no ability to think critically.

Edit: You still don't get it species don't just change into other species, like poof!!! I'm a new species.

No one, including Darwin, ever said men evolved from moose, or monkey. All that was ever said was that ape and man may have had a common ancestor. On the subject of Adam and Eve, Adam did not wear shoes and therefore Eve could not have had half of his sole. Back to school with ye.

Evolution - Definition: Organic evolution is the theory that the First Living Organism developed from Lifeless matter. Then as it reproduced, it is said, it changed into different kinds of living things, Ultimately producing All forms of plant and animal life that have ever existed on this earth.
All of this is said to have been accomplished Without Supernatural Intervention of a Creator.
Some people endeavor to blend belief in God with evolution, saying that God created by means of evolution, that he brought into existence the first primitive life forms and that then higher forms of life, including man, were produced by means of evolution. [Not a Bible teaching]
The 'scientific method" is as follows:
Observe what happens: based on those observations, form a theory as to what may be true; test the theory by further observations and by experiments; watch to see if the predictions based on the theory are fulfilled. Is this method followed By Those who believe in and teach evolution?
Astronomer Robert Jastrow said: "To their chagrin [scients] have no clear-cut answer, because chemists have never Succeeded in reproducing nature's experiments on the creation of life out of living matter. Scientists do not know how that happened." The Enchanted Loom: Mind in The Universe [ New York, 1981,] pg. 19.
Evolutionist Loren Eiseley acknowledged: "After having chided the theologian for his reliance on myth and miracle, science found itself in the unenviable position of having to create a mythology of its own: namely, the assumption that what, after long effort, could not be proved to take place today had, in truth, taken place in the primeval past." --- The Immense Journey [ New York, 1957], pg. 199.
According to New Scientist: " An increasing number of scientists, most particularly a growing number of evolutionist....argue that Darwinian evolutionary theory is no genuine scientific theory at all... Many of the critics have the highest intellectual credentials." --- June 25, 1981, p. 828.
Physicist H.S. Lipton said: " The only acceptable explanation is Creation. I know that this is anathema to physicists, as indeed it is to me, but we must not reject a theory that we do not like, if the experimental evidence supports it." Physics Bulletin, 1980, Vol. 31, p. 138.
What does the fossil record actually show?
"A View of Life" states: " Beginning at the base of the Cambrian period and extending for about 10 million years, all the major groups of skeletonised invertebrates made their first appearenc in the most spectacular rise in diversity ever recorded on our planet." California, 1981 Salvador E. Luria, Stephen Jay Gould, Sam Singer, p. 649.Zoologist Harold Coffin states: " If progressive evolution from simple to complex is correct, the ancestors of these full-blown living creatures in the Cambrian should be found; but they have not been found and scientists admit there is little prospect of their ever being found. On the basis the facts alone, on the basis of what is Actually found in the earth, the theory of a sudden creative act in which the majors forms of life were established fits best." --Liberty, September/October 1975, p. 12
Carl Sagan, in his book Cosmos, candidly acknowledged: "The fossil evidence could be consistent with the idea of a Great Designer." New York, 1980 p. 29.
Based on this knowledge it appears that credible scientists believe that there was Creative Intervention in the creation of life and life forms.

Oh boy, this is getting ridiculous...

Please, if you ant to be respected, at least increase the total time you have spent studying evolutio in your life to 10-20 minutes.

We can observe evolution and in the lab in very simple species, in bacteria, we have thousands of transitional fossils, many other observances in our current bone structures (we have remnants of a tailbone).

The debate ended long ago.

Education and study leads people to believe in the theory of evolution.

Belief in stories told by nomads before the theory of a round earth was established, or an understanding of how plants need the sun to survive, leads to a belief in creation.

Mairs, if you are honestly seeking information on why people believe in Evolution, I suggest starting by looking up transitional fossils.

You will find that we actually HAVE found fossils that show animals in different states of evolution.
