I'm an Austrian/American citizen (dual citizenship) and I need a new Austrian passport to go back this Winter and work.

I would like to know how long it takes for me to get the passport here, so I can tell if it would be faster for me to get it while I'm here or if it'd be faster if I got it over there in a month.

Thanks.

Passports are processed for more or less one week depending upon the volume of applicants.

when are you going back? which month?
either way it will not take long since it is off season now, go to this page to find your nearest consultae in the US;
http://www.austria.org/jurisdiction/
while at home, the birth certificate , you can get it in one day,in the US it will take longer....
if you have enough time before your leaving, you may do it in the US,
if you have never used the consulate in the US prior to getting a passport? do it at home, it will be faster, besides? you can leave without your austrian passport......you knew that .........
