generally no. White is not always an indicator of loss of hearing. Also, what is it that you are using to determine it is a Manx kitten. If you are assuming it is a Manx because your kitten has no tail than you could be mistaken. Manx cats can have tails like all other cats and the mutation that is found in the Manx is actually found in nearly all breeds of cats. Meaning most breeds can produce tailless kitten on occasion. Manx cats have very round feet, broad chested round faces with oval eyes. Ears are wide set on their heads not at the top and hindquarters will be 2 to 3 inches taller than front legs. You may want to be sure you have a Manx.

I had a white cat that was deaf. This is what I was told : not all white cats are deaf, most with blue eyes can be, if they have two different colored eyes then they will more than likely be deaf in the ear on the blue eyed side. This info. came from my vet. Cats that are deaf also tend to be very vocal and loud. So, don't worry he is normal.

White cats, especially ones with blue eyes, frequently are deaf. Yellow-eyed cats are less likely to be genetically deaf, but it can happen -in about 10-20% of the population with this coat and eye color combination. See link below.

Pure white kittens can be deaf, and it's recommended to have them evaluated to find out. It's a common question when we get pure white kittens in at the rescue. Everyone first asks if they're deaf.

Usually, white cats that are deaf also have blue eyes: The genes for the hearing and fur color are close together.
I won't go so far as to say it's common. But it does happen.

It is not unusual to have a white cat or kitten be deaf. I do not know why it is like that, but it is. Several of my white cats were deaf.

I know that it is very common if they are all white and have blue eyes. My cat is a long haired all white cat with blue eyes and he is deaf and he cannot see all that good either at a distance.

I thought my cat was deaf but it turned out that he just ignores me. I had an American albino horse that was deaf. Maybe the albino pigment has a gene that affects the hearing. You should be able to tell that I don't really know..

Yes, it is very common for all-white cats (and dogs) to be deaf. However, not every white cat is deaf.

we had a white yellow eyed cat and she too was totally deaf we got her when she was two..took us six months to realize she was deaf...she cried so loud..the only thing with solid white animals is that normally they wont live as long as other colored ones..something about them makes them prone to disease etc...we had to put her to sleep when she was nine but she was the sweetest cat ever
