And exactly how would that not be offesive to NON-Christians?
Specifically:
Thou shalt have no other gods before me - And you determine WHICH God to have?
Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy - The sabbath is different in many religions - you are saying that YOURS is the right one?)
Thou shalt not commit adultery- by whose definition of Adultery?
Thou shalt not bear false witness - So if I don't agree with you, I'm bearing false witness???
EDIT TO SPANKY:> Better place? for who? You? Because it wouldn't be better for me to live in a Country where I wasn't free to question or have thoughts of my own, but rather would become an outlaw for not believing what you believe...

Laws against stealing, murder and bearing false witness are basic and universal to all societies and religions around the world, Christian or not.
The other Commandments are religious in nature and deal specifically with personal and family issues that are not really the Government's business.

I'm a devout christians and i the idea of implementing the 10 commandments as government law makes me want to slit my wrists. Jesus taught that the commandments are a matter of the heart and dependent on an individuals relationship with God.
Politicizing Christians are a determent to the faith and the gospel.

Problem is that it would go against our Constitution. Under the Ten Commandment laws I would never have freedom of worship. Plus nothing like living in a dictatorial country. Hitler tried that already along with many other countries...I say we learn from their mistakes and keep this one as free as we can.

First of all, gay marriage ftw.
Secondly, no, the ten commandments shouldn't be made into law. The only people those laws apply to are Jews and Christians, no one else would recognize them and they would be deemed unconstitutional as they violate the First Amendment.

If the Emisarians are gonna be allowed to make their 10 commandments laws, then they should allow all religions to have their laws made governmental laws as well

Ah, drrr ... most of the laws are based off of the laws Mosus & Aaron governerend ... even the widow laws ... the laws got so outta control by the time Jesus came along ... I think there were some 507 laws (??? dunno exactly) ... anyways, Jesus tried to make it all simple by breaking the laws down into TWO: Love GOD above all ... Love each other as we wanna be loved.
Sigh ... again, we've made it way more difficult than it needs to be.

actually the last 6 are against the law, though some of them aren't as enforced as others. Honoring the father and the mother is just respectful, and the first three would violate separation of church and state.
covet with intention, ie STEAL.
do you suppose we follow all the other 600 or so laws in the old testament as well?

this should not and cannot be mandated, we follow god's law because we need to from within.
the US govt is there to protect our right to worship not to tell us who or how to worship
