On average, young adults need about 8-9 hours of sleep a night, but it varies among individuals. My dad and my grandma have always needed relatively little sleep, more like 5-6 hours a night. Other people need more like 9-10 hours of sleep. So while the average is supposedly 8-9, it's pretty must just however much sleep you need to feel rested. Also, keep in mind that sleep deprivation is cumulative, so if you don't get enough sleep one night, you'll need more sleep the next night until you've made up something like 30-40% of slow wave sleep and 80% of REM sleep.
However much sleep you need to feel rested is how much you personally should be getting, so you should go by that over general recommendations or averages if they don't match up. It's changes in your normal sleep patterns rather than deviations from averages that are cause for concern. If you've always needed 10 hours of sleep that's fine, but if you've always needed more like 6-7 hours and then suddenly start sleeping 10 hours a day that could be an indication that something's wrong. Similarly, if you normally need 10 hours of sleep a day and suddenly start sleeping more like 5-6 hours a day (because that's all you seem to need, rather than because you're forcing yourself to stay up working or whatever), then that could also indicate something's wrong.

It depends on the lady, her state of health, and her energy level during the day.
Most adults need 7-8 hours of sleep. But they can get along with 6-7 if they have to. Personally, I'm a 10 hour girl. And sometimes I even take an hour nap mid-day.
Like I said, depends on the person.

7 1/2-8 hours sounds legit. if you sleep over 9 hours its too much and it makes you be tired for the rest of the day.

It has been estimated that generally 5-8 hours a day is appropriate for human functioning. There is no magic number, however. Generally, it is only problematic if it interferes with daily functioning or causes emotional distress.
