I think it's a tension/lack of sleep headache, plus I have the beginnings of a cold.

I need to tidy my entire room before bed, which will take a couple of hours, but everytime I move or bend I get a throbbing pain in my head which is preventing me from getting on with it.

Any advice would be great.

I've taken some ibuprofen a few hours ago and I'm drinking lots.

Temporary relief may be achieved by using pressure on your hand. Squeeze the meaty part of your left hand between the thumb and forefinger using your thumb and forefinger of your right hand. It shouldn't hurt, but should be significant pressure. This can sometimes relieve the tension that causes a headache. Other than that....

Warm shower
Hot pad/pack on your upper back or neck
self massage of your neck
2 or 3 shots of tequila

ok, that last one will be temporary, and it may ALSO cause you to have a worse one in the morning. Good luck!

Many people think that getting headaches is just a natural part of life. Not so! There are causes, and thankfully, cures for headaches, even bad ones like migraines. Look into seeing a reputable Chiropractor as many headaches stim from misalignment in the cervical spine area. And if that doesn't do the trick, you can also see an acupuncturist. Good luck!

Drink a coke,

or... if you are feeling a cold coming on, take a single sinus pill, like sinutab, or something.

Coke has caffeine which will expand your vessels, and increase circulation which will help relieve your headache if it is that that kind of headache.

If it is the cold, the sinutab will dry your sinuses, and in that it will relieve the pressure in your head and thus your brain.

Ibuprofen is good for pain, but not so much for headaches, in me, I've found, anyway.

Take 2 extra strength tylenol. In an hour take 2 more ibuprofen. Take a little nap--maybe an hour.

TX Mom

P.S. If you weigh 100 lbs, you can take up to 800 mg of ibu every 6 hours.

Take ecedrin, the caffine will help you get what you need done. If you are getting headaches more than even 3 times a month talk to your doctor about getting on something once daily. I take Topamax for migraines and it works amazing!

I'm not sure if this works or not but I have read somewhere that drinking Gatorade will stop a headache, worth a try.

When all else seems to fail, most will graduate to making a call on a doctor of Chiropractic. Is what they treat most frequently.
