Up the aisle. Don't do that walk alone. Wherever you are, I will come and walk down with you! My wife's father walked her down the aisle, she was 21, so was I, and we are still together almost 40 years on. The music was Handel's Scipio. Magical day.
But please don't do it alone.
Barry.

You are right, you walk UP the aisle, then back down the aisle after you are married. People often confuse them.
My father had passed away two years before the wedding. I had asked my mom, but she didn't want to do it. I didn't want to walk alone - which is an option for you. In the end, and the BEST choice, was my husband and I walking in together, with our attendants walking before us as couples.
We had a traditional church ceremony, so we walked up the aisle to a Ukrainian hymn to Mary.

My father gave my away and we walked in the Church to the Bridal March (you know the one - Here comes the Bride etc) and after the ceremony my husband and I walked out to the Wedding March. It was a very traditional wedding in 1973. If you don't have a brother to walk you down the aisle, maybe you mother could do it instead.

My dad passed away some years ago, so both of my brothers are walking me up the aisle (but, they're not "giving me away"--I am choosing to get married). My fiance and I are using a traditional structure for our wedding, but not doing much traditional within that structure, so we're using The Turtles' "Happy Together" up the aisle and Stevie Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)" for back down.
Do check with the venue you're getting married at about music selections before you get your heart set on something. Many churches restrict the kind of music you can use, so be sure they're okay with your choice.

I walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of From this moment on. My father walked me down the aisle. You can have anyone walk you down the aisle, a brother, uncle, granddad, my friend even had her mom walk her down the aisle.

My Daddy (who is really my step Dad) walked me down the aisle.
as for the song i walked out to Butterfly Kisses because i love that song and its a good wedding song. (i got married last july) i would pick a song that means something to you or that you love very much.
about walking down the aisle alone or with someone that is totally up to you. you could carry a flower that will detatch from yours and leave a chair open for him at the front and place the flower there when you pass by and walk alone or you could ask a special man in your life to walk you down the aisel like an older brother a grandfather one of my freinds had her son walk her down when she got married because she was older and her father had passed away. maybe you could even ask your mother to do it nothing wrong with that ..... its YOUR weddding day do things just like you want to.
Good luck with the wedding and i hope you have a long happy life!

I had a December wedding and walked up the aisle to "Greensleeves". It was a second wedding for both of us so we kind of did things our way. I chose to walk up the aisle alone. My suggestion is to do things the way you and your future husband want. Make it personal and all about the two of YOU. I'm sure you and your day will be beautiful. Best wishes!

Well basically Mel walked up the aisle to the traditional wedding march. Mel's daughter gave her away as her father had passed on and her son was taken to hospital on the day with an injury. It really doesn't matter who gives you away as long as they're close to you and mean something to you. Afterwards when we were signing the register we had Motown-style love songs playing in the background that we'd heard and liked from Smooth FM (100.4). It's your day - do it your way. [smiles]
