A plant is where things are manufactured;
A plant is a form of life, usually having roots anchoring it to the soil, a rock, tree, etc.; most are incapable of motion, and reproduce by seeds, cuttings, sending out roots, etc.
It uses sunlight and carbon dioxide to produce water and oxygen. But, when photosynthesis slows down, it uses oxygen. Hence, for those who are in a weakened condition (as from illness or surgery or injury) it can kill them by taking the oxygen a person needs to live.
