A bridal shower is given by friends of the bride (or groom) to honor her. Nobody has to give you one, and if you don't want one you can thank them and decline if anybody offers.
You never give yourself a shower.
If any friends of the groom's mother want to give you a shower, you will do well to suck it up, thank them profusely, and go with a smile.

Bridal showers are great but if you dont really need one just tell everyone that. Usually your maid of honor will throw on for you or your parents in laws co workers. If you already have most of your household goods then I would just do informal get togethers so that every one can bask in the bride to be pressence lol....

If someone decides to give you a bridal shower, you can ask them not to but you can't MAKE them not give it. The most you can do is refuse to attend. If no one is planning to give you a shower, that's fine. You'll be just as married and your friends will be grateful that you didn't try to 'shake them down' for an extra gift. Congrats and best wishes.

No, you don't have to have a bridal shower. My fiance and I already had our own places so we pretty much have everything we need. Our church is doing a money tree for us. Just an idea!

A lot of things that are done are done out of tradition, sometimes we need to break tradition and do what we feel is best for us. If you have a maid of honor it is up to her as to whether she will give you a bridal shower.

No. There are no bridal shower police to make sure you have one.

No you don't have to have one. Usually your maid/matron of honor will give you a bridal shower, or another close friend or family member.

No you don't. Some people don't...it's just a tradition like many things. I think it was set up in the 1930's when people didn't live together before they married to help get the things the woman needed to run the household.

You don't HAVE to do anything you don't want to, but many brides do choose to. It's a gift from your bridesmaids to you, so accept it graciously if they do throw you one.
You can also request a very small or simple shower, if that's what concerns you.

Of course not. I didn't. Truthfully your bridesmaids and guests will thank you because now they won't have to buy two gifts. All of my bridesmaids lived out of town and the thought of my family and his family together in the same room made me want to be sick so I didn't have one. I don't regret it at all.
