Most fundies think Halloween is Satan worship and, so, naturally they will dress as liberal Atheists since, for them, 2+2 = 9 and likewise a liberal Atheist somehow equals the devil and what better way to celebrate a Satan worship holiday then to dress up like a liberal Atheist who somehow is also a devil worshiper....

Confused?
Yeah, well that is fundamentalism for you.....

I am a Christian. My kids are going to be dressing up and getting candy. I might help them eat their candy but I am not going to be dressing up, not because I think it is bad, but because I don't have a costume and don't want to buy one.

Satan doesn't get a day. If all Christians locked their doors and stopped coming out, another day would be taken and another, etc.

The Jews have a holiday much like Halloween called pureem. They celebrate it around March every year. It is in celebration of Esther, who pretended to not be Jewish to become Queen and save the Jewish People. (All of Israel typically dresses up and they have a parade with candy handed out)

For those who celebrate unto the Lord, then the Lord gets the glory. It is just a day where kids get Candy. And if Jesus was here, he would be handing out the best and biggest candy of all!!!

Its a heart thing.

Wow, so many of my fellow fundie brothers and sisters are caught in the dangerous web of legalism!

Please read Colossians 2:16 "So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbath..."

It's a matter of heart. Celebrate Halloween as a time of candy and imagination. Use it as a wonderful opportunity to witness to the adults who bring their children by your home.

Do all things with a song in your heart toward Christ.

As for me, I will not be dressing up, I'm a bit to old for that part of it, but I will be handing out candy to the kids and talking to the adults that come to my door.

Think about it - Halloween is the only Holiday of the year where strangers actually come to your door and want to interact with you. What a perfect witnessing opportunity! (As a disclaimer, I must add that it is only appropriate to discuss Christ with the adults who bring their children to your door.)

EDIT - To "the lips" guy, the Easter Bunny, as well as decorated colorful eggs are both ancient pagan symbols of the "goddess" (or demon, depending on your perspective) Ishtar or Ashtaroth, whose cult worshiped fertility and sex.
Good thing I get to decide how I celebrate Easter. For me it is the resurrection of Christ.

I really don't think if you are Christian there is a problem having fun with Halloween. You don't have to do the traditional devils, ghosts and all the 'dark' side of things. You can decorate with harvest pumpkins and such. I am going to dress up as a hippie!

Three of our grandchildren will be with us this year, two girls and one boy.
The granddaughters are going to be Princesses, 2 and 3.
The Grandson is Captain Jack Sparrow, 5
They look just wonderful.

Happy Halloween, and be careful out there.

I know this is the wrong time of the year to ask this - but I just wondered what the fundamentalist view was on the Easter Bunny ?

He's not the spawn of Satan, but then he's hardly Christian either is he ?

There will be lots of crazies out on Halloween but I don't think that brand of crazy will be joining us in the fun.

Not really a costume but I'll be wearing a friendly smile as I open the door to dispense candy to all those that knock or ring the bell at my house.

And as a true Fundie would do, I put Bible tracts in with the candy.
