Hope: Well, you can feel that someone loves you and be wrong about it. You can't feel that orange is a nice color and be wrong - that woud be an opinion.

Religion or mysticism is not really irrational. It's just that there is a point where one must set aside reason and subjectively engage in the process. Once you experience religion, the actual consciousness of God's presence, you would be in the best position to explain it to yourself.

The real answer is, they cannot trust their feelings as regards the existence of god. Simply because, god does not exist.

Gods word backs up my feelings, answered prayers help and miracle's are really good at convincing me, God and His word are real.

I can't trust my feelings when believing and trusting in God.We believe by faith.Ask God to reveal himself to you.

Faith goes without any explanation. Attempting to explain why we have faith is in itself not faith. Therefore, finding an answer to your question is pointless.

That "feeling" is a coping mechanism for individuals that live in fear. Fearful of questioning everything in the universe. Don't we owe it to ourselves to explore thought and reason to its limits?

That is EXACTLY what I've asked before. They basically say "yeah... I CAN trust that my feelings are 100% correct in this instance cuz I have faith and faith is all you need, etc etc".
