my modular home has deep burgundy carpets in main parts of the house, the bedrooms are in the rust color. the kitchen has burgundy on the counter sides with white counter top, but the floor is a neutral color. Please help me with some ideas for color for the rooms. I have a Quill color from Glidden paint picked out for the living room, which is picking up some of the color from the stone fireplace. I don't want the same color in all the rooms, so please help me find some good colors that will match throughout my home. Right now it is all white !!

Cream is a great color to go with those that you already have, a burnt cream is good too-like golden colored. That's what colors are in my bedroom, golden cream with burgundy and a light cream crown molding. I get compliments on it everytime.

If the carpet is Burgundy I would go with a nice earthy gold color on ONE main wall. On the other remaining walls, I would paint a few shades lighter that the gold tone. The reason I would paint one wall darker is so that you are not closing off the rest of the room with dark colors. The one wall will give the effect that the room is gold without going all the way. I'm not sure how the room is layed out, but you might want to paint 2 walls gold and the remaining walls in a lighter shade of gold. Also, keep the Burgundy color through the room with artwork, pillows and window treatments.

Here are some Sherwin Williams color that work well with both rust & burgundy, and work well together:

Mannered Gold
Toasty
Gray Matters
French Roast

(I tried to look your Quill color up on Glidden.com, but couldn't find it)

I like nice pale grey/blues (like driftwood colors) with burgundy. And an accent color like pale lemon or aqua.
Unless you want to go very warm with lots of reds, papaya and mango colors and some dark browns or eggplant or dark purple color accents. You could put warmer colors in the north part of the house and cooler colors in the southwest and west.
I would complement the red carpet with a cool color like aqua or pale blues for most of the walls. Most people may tell you to go for beige or camel colors, but not me!!!

1] bedrooms could each be different colors, as long as they
coordinate with rust.
cream or ivory
peach
pale gold
leaf green
aqua
sky blue
lavender
gray
caramel
2] 'public' rooms should blend a bit - they already all have burgundy carpet.
soft white
pink, rose
banana, pale gold
mint, sage
sky or stone blue
lavender
grays
3] maybe have same drapes in LR and DR; one of same color accessories in DR/kitchen; and one of another in kitchen/FR

Any kind of neutrals like browns, tans, yellows, creams, etc. would look good with either of those colors. Greys would be fine with the burgandy, but not so good with the rust.
