Kingsley is misinformed. You can donate to the Red Cross, but do specify that the donation is for Southern California fire victims to ensure your money goes there and not elsewhere.
The Salvation Army is another possibility. Same thing; in the donation section, there is a box you can check to direct your funds to support fire victims.
Thank you and God bless.

I live in San Diego County and we have been devastated here. I have been told to evacuate 3 times, only to have the orders reversed. So many people have lost homes. The outpouring of support has been phenomenal and I am amazed at how smooth 500,000 people have been evacuated here in San Diego County and good the communication has been. I have been so touched personally, to the point of tears, that people have cared so much about all of us that they have donated food, money, blankets, cots, medication, diapers, sundries, etc. Restaurants have provided free meals to those in evacuation centers, churches have provided spiritual comfort, counselors have provided counseling services for free, teachers have gone to evacuation centers to spend time with bored children, and the list goes on.
You don't have to have money to help out. Anything you do is a help. You can contact any of the evacuation centers near where you live and simply ask how you can help. They might put you to work passing out sundries or free water. They might put you to work doing something else. All I know is that ANYTHING you so graciously and thoughtfully offer to do will be so VERY MUCH appreciated by all. Thank you for having such a good heart and wanting to help!!

Yes there is a big donation drive today at the Rose Bowl. They are taking money and checks. Channel 7 news will be.
There is another site but I forgot where.
Do not listen to Kinglsey, she has issues on helping others. Once a year on Skid Row. I am there everyday helping the homeless and working poor. They sell the donated clothing to buy drugs. That is why I give them breakfst, lunch or dinner.

DO NOT donate money. It never gets to where you want it to go. I know first hand. I always help by donating my time and buying things that I hand directly to the people. YOur time is best, but if you want to use money....buy things like toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, towels, wash cloths, blankets, socks, etc. I do this at least once a year for the homeless in skid row. That way you know exactly where it goes. No middle man to put it in his pocket.

Good Question!, even if some 500,000 people already have been evacuated , help will still be needed! donations to such organizations like the salvation army would be much appreciated.
