I mean, when I became educated and started learning things on my own, I had to drop Christianity because it stopped making sense.

But I know of parents who claim they have Christian kids - I mean, YOUNG kids!!

Of course, there are Jewish kids, and Islamic kids (many with guns!)

but all the same... These kids have never had the honest opportunity to really decide for themselves. Their parents force the kids to believe this or that.

Same in America. empty heads and hearts being filled with religion du jour... When Christianity ends, because of all the evidence piling up against it, what will these people do?

Born into it.

Most people are baptized when they are too young to make the choice for themselves.

People choose Christianity all the time. Even in other countries, where people are born into animist or Muslim families, or other religions, people are being baptized by the thousands. They are desperate, and they are beginning to realize their little "household gods" are not helping them. Christianity is the only religion that offers hope to the hopeless.
You dropped Christianity partially because you have been brainwashed by the religion of evolution throughout your school years, and you realized that evolution doesn't mix with Christianity. So you had to choose. Unfortunately, you made the wrong choice. To answer more of your questions, you should try reading "The Evolution Cruncher" by Vance Ferrell. It contains thousands of scientific facts that bury evolution and support the idea that the Earth is young and that there really was a worldwide Flood.

Yes, it's quite sad that children are still labeled as 'Christian children' and 'Muslim' children. Unfortunately, for nearly all religions, not just Christianity, it is the result of child indoctrination, which is highly psychological for a child. Around 3/4 of the world in fact will carry on the beliefs of their parents in some format into adulthood, religiously speaking that is.

To me at least, this makes the teachings that many religions "follow my God(s) or suffer eternally" all the more twisted.

Some are born into it, and some are not.
I myself chose to become a Christian on my own. And im educated too :)
As for those parents, a child that young cant honestly have actual faith....they havent been in world enough and at that age will believe anything.

Most children are brought up within a certain religion, I mean come on, and when a child is born and raised...people whom are a member of some religion ordinarily raise them. So yes, they are of that religion. Within Christianity, within most sections, there comes a time where the child is presented with accepting this religion, which they do. We make decisions for our children that we see as fitting. Whether or not Christianity or any other religion for that matter makes sense, is not the complete point, it is that there is direction to do well, and be good people. Within every religion, there are things that seem so odd, but this is acceptable. I mean there are "fable-like" (this is not to say they are or are not fables) things in all religions. And there are things that a person is supposed to follow in each religion...that we as an individual might simply disagree with, but it does not lesson the need for our children to have hope, direction, and back up for why we should act this way or that way. There are so many factors out there. For children; no of course they do not pick their religion out when they are like toddler stage, or even when they are say 8, or 12. However, seriously, they also do not pick out their shoes, how could we leave their decision of religion up to them when they are that age, when they do not understand they have to wear a coat when it is cold, or that they must take a bath, even if they think they are not dirty. Religion gives us all a way of living, of course there are things that have controversy, but for example within Christianity, I know.... killing is bad, lying is bad, stealing is bad, treating people badly...is bad, these are things that I want my child to know.
I also do not think that Christianity will "end". Simply because their is controversy, does not mean that it is going to go away. There is controversy in all religions, study up, look around you. Do you truly think that every single religion is sound? No, of course not, there are issues within all of them. Its like saying simply because something does not make sense within Judaism, that it will eventually end, it is not going to happen. And simply because one religion sees only the kids whom are of a certain age to fully accept the religion as truly a member; it is acceptable, for that religion. However, this does not mean that another religions practice is wrong, it just means that each religion feels differently about when a person can accept the religion into their lives as a whole. However, as I said, it does not make one religion right, and the other wrong, it simply means that they are different.
As educated as you say you are, I would suggest that you educate yourself in a more rounded fashion. Your statements do not appear as though you are educated in a religious aspect.....................religious as in all religions, not just your own, or through the knowledge you have accepted. There is a big world out there, and even though you might feel that Christianity is going to end, you might want to look at the idea that many religions are quite similar in general terms. Through your assumptions, I would expect all religions to end, simply because to one person they stopped making sense.

I was born into it but like you I started learning on my own and realized Christianity wasn't the religion for me (here's where I get the thumbs down from disgruntled Christians..lol). If someone gets to their religion on their own accord, that's fine. I just don't believe in parents who force their kids to believe as they do (I'm primarily thinking of JWs...those kids always look miserable).

I believe people choose Christianity and God chose all of us when he sent his only son Jesus to the Earth but God does not force us to believe or else we wouldn't have been given Free Will.
Don't worry I'm not preaching to you I'm just stating what I believe.
There is such a thing called "True Christian" and to me that is a person who chooses and practices the lifestyle that is outlined in the bible.
Just because you are born into a Christian Household doesn't make you a Christian.
Labels don't mean a thing until you outwardly define them.

I readily admit that there are many who are "born" into the Christian faith as you say.

Christianity will never end and there isn't any credible evidence against Christianity.

I am also well educated and learn things on my own and I am still a Christian.

There are many, however, are born into non-Christian homes that later become Christians when they learn for themselves.

You can be educated and intelligent and be a Christian.

John....

Your preconceived idea's are in need of being let go....believe me...many children are "old" beyond their years when still in diapers, and, thinking for themselves. America has the same probs as other countries....people in need and hurting people can be your next door neighbor.... emotional, and social chains keep people bound...but...bound or not, people of all ages are able to find God without having to go to a church to do so.

I was barely out of diapers when I sought out God.... My family were Agnostic, but in no hurry to seek anything but surviving day to day and find their own individual peace and happiness... children have eyes and ears...and can think and reason things out very well....don't underestimate children... especially those whom have been abused...believe me, innocence goes through a mighty educational process for them....People assume the "age of reason" is when a child is about 6 or 7 when they are "supposed" to be able to make decisions of good and bad....for many children, the age of reason can be at 4 years of age...or younger.

I also have known people whom had not found the Lord till in their 60's....

It's too bad you gave up before you went further in finding God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit....

But, it's never too late! :)

Isn't say a 40 year old woman plenty old enough to make her own decisions? I am 22 years old, and I decided for myself. I have been a Christian my entire life (and yes I was brought up as a Christian) but it was not shoved down my throat, and I was not forced to learn about it. When I could read, I read the Bible of my own accord.

For the most part? Born into it. Christianity makes perfect sense if that's all you've known your entire life. Of course, there are a few people who aren't born into it, but for the most part, I think it's a religion people have to be surrounded by to believe in.
