I would agree that Christianity gets a bad rap.But I wouldn't agree that one form of Christianity versus another form would make me believe.I don't believe because I tried to already.I simply could not resolve my questions to my satisfactory and I can't believe something to be true when my questions about why it is true are unanswered.I always got people telling me it is true because the Bible says so or because "faith" and so forth.I am still waiting for the facts, evidence, proof, and supportive facts, evidence, and proof therein.Haven't got it yet.So, I can't believe no matter how nice the person trying to convince me to believe might be.

Well, it wouldn't make me believe that there is a god, but it might make it easier to get along.
Of course, every single one of the people you refer to as a "Radical" christian is utterly convinced that he is a REAL christian and that you are not.
"Real christian" alway, always, always means only one thing -- someone who agrees with whoever is preaching at the moment.
Just how do you propose to "not be judgemental but ... not be complacent either"? So, you should not have any values, but you should be energetic about it?
Come on.
Look, if you're saying that people should generally try to live in peace with their fellows and enjoy each other's company and tolerate differences of opinion, OK, that's cool. But that's not a "christian" message or a "jesus" message or a "real vs fake christian" thing -- it's just a human thing.

It is very difficult for me to comprehend the idea of a "real Christian" because so many believers in Christ seem to disagree with what it entails.
I have respect for Christians who:
Live their beliefs but do not hold others to them.
Do not pass judgment on others -- at least not out loud. ;)
ACT in a compassionate and loving fashion, rather than just talking about it.
Admit that their beliefs are just that -- BELIEFS -- and that they nor anyone else *knows*.
Meeting these Christians -- and I have met a few -- does not cause me to wish to become one, however. I don't think that meeting me -- a fairly moral atheist who does good works and supports many charities -- would cause them to become atheist, either.

Totally and completely agree - you'd be surprised how many thumbs down my responses get for stating the same thing. Sadly, serious Christians that want to show others Jesus are the minority right now. Maybe another question would be how do we wake up the hypocritical ones.

Being a Christian, I claim to be just that. Someone who believes and tries to follow in Christ's teachings. I don't claim to be Christ. Call me a hypocryte. I never said I wasn't. No one is perfect.
Not everyone who says they are a Christian is saying that they are without fault. They are simply stating that they believe in a certain way of living and strive to live that way the best they can. Being a Christian isn't easy. It's constantly trying to keep yourself in check. It's making mistakes and knowing you are forgiven. It's TRYING for the reason being Jesus died for us.
At least those are my thoughts.

I have a hard time with the "Jesus" thing. Why do I need a middleman between me and my God??
Showing respect for beliefs different from mine goes a very long way in practicing tolerance rather than hypocrasy.
So...I do agree that being judgemental pushes people away.
Good question.!!

there is no possible way for a "real" christian to exist, as no one as any idea what a "real" christian is. No 2 churches can agree on what doctrine makes up a christian. Some say this rule applies, some say this one does, some say it doesnt. Some say you should live by the bible, but not all the bible, only this part or that part. A "Real" christian doesnt exist. its impossible, the bible contradicts itself on its laws, so even if you tried to go by the bible alone, you would be unable to ever live up to the expectations of the bible, plus, youd be thrown in jail for some of the requirements of the bible.

I am an atheist and I agree with you, it would impact some. In my case I just don't believe, but many purported atheist use the "how could a loving God....", or they point out individual cases of hypocrisy among Christians to frame their arguments. These are examples of why you may not like Christianity, but are pretty weak arguments for disbelief in a God.

I agree that there are problems with people that call themselves Christians but then do a complete 180 and tell people they're going to Hell, curse like a sailor, are hateful towards people, etc. I am a Christian and I do not do that. I do not judge people. It's not my place. I'm not so sure I agree however.

Nope.
Every christian thinks they'rea "real" christian, and the fact that there's so much backbiting and disagreement in that community tells me a lot about it.
I choose to live my life with logic, reason, believing in what I can see and feel, and trusting in my own mind and abilities to have a good life and live what I want. Someone can believe in whatever they want, but looking at a so-called "real" christian wouldn't phase me a bit. I've known all kinds, and it hasn't happened yet.
