No but I do find it amusing that some people say they are religious. Religious people are the problem. Let me explain that before I get a million emails because of it. Religious people are the self righteous egotistical morons walking around judging people and do not act at all like they are supposed to. Religious people are the same people that tell me I can't believe in God because I wear leather chaps and vest to church. Religious people are the ones that say you can't testify about God because you have tattoos, have a criminal background, used to do drugs, and etc. If someone outright tells you they are religious back away and do not turn your back on them because these are the ones that will put a knife in it. Every person I have ever met that said they are religious has been this way. Personally, I am Christian not religious.

A great many people consider themselves to have spiritual leanings while religating religion to the realm of what's harbored by the ignorant and uneducated. One can attribute spiritual feelings toward a mathematical proof that defines a natural physics process, for example, and the beauty in a mathematics formula doesn't have anything religious in it.

I'm utterly opposed to religion and all it stands for given the fact that religion has been and continues to be the worst detriment to humanity ever after disease. But I recognize the need for ritual and spiritual yearnings since such are emotive constructs arising from our evolutional development.

The funny thing is that if the whole world were spiritual INSTEAD of religious we wouldn't have had millions of people slaughtered over the centuries for reading the wrong book. Religion is just spiritualty beauracritized so that the executives of the beauracracy (popes, reverends, cardinals, rabbi's, ayatollahs, priests, etc...) can gather money from the masses and wield power with the backing of thier followers. Wow, that IS funny!

I actually do say that... and what I mean is that yes, I'm spiritual. I beleive in the "something more" and I feel in tune with beliefs that I can't go into here... but I vehemently disagree with most of the organized religions making me Not Religious.... I am a free thinker - not a sheep, not a coward, not in a cult or any of the other judgemental things I see on here...

When a baby is born, it has no understanding of religion. Does that make the baby less spiritual?

Spirituality is the understanding of our connectedness to all. It has little or nothing to do with religion. Religion is a construct that is supposed to aid those seeking to be more spiritual.

And the baby? Perhaps the most spiritual of all because it has no sense of being separate from its mother. Not until the infant reaches 9 months or older does it understand that its physical being is not attached to the mother. This can result in what psychologists call, "separation anxiety."

Being "Religious" is following the ritual of the church.... but not feeling the Truth in your spirit.

Being "Spiritual" is following the Message of the Faith AND feeling the the Truth in your spirit.

Not at all. Being spiritual, in my opinion, means that you're in touch with, or believe in, things outside of our natural realm. Being religious means that you adhere to a specific set of rules or norms set forth by a larger organization. You can be Christian, for instance, but never go to church and want no parts to do with any Christian organizations, including the Catholic, Methodist or Baptist churches. That doesn't mean you aren't Christian, it means you aren't religious because you're not being dictated by someone else's rules. See the difference?

I don't think it's funny. I've had a lot of agnostic/atheist friends say similar things. Basically they mean they think about the spiritual side of the human condition, such as what is a "soul." But they don't have any faith in any of the organized religions.

Spirits and souls , are only in religious superstition . If a person is religious , be believes in spirits and souls . If he believes is spirits and souls , he's religious .
Some have the belief that you're not religious unless you're a member of a church .

Spiritual can mean different things.

You might be referring to some sort of ectoplasmic entity. Yeah i stole that from Ghostbusters, but you know what i mean. The existenc of some nonmaterial being.

Or you just might be referring to an emotional state.

We deny the first and accept the 2nd.
