I think once is fine.
Maybe send him a muffin basket, if you feel so inclined. ;)

I believe it is VERY IMPORTANT to express gratitude (thanks) at every opportunity. You can thank GOD everyday if you still feel grateful for your life. I dont think God filters prayers. She wont get sick of hearing anyone praise and talk about what all is GOOD in this life.
If I gave my friend a ride to work everyday, I would like to hear an occasional thank you, yes. Not only is it polite to say thanks when someone does something nice for you, it helps me feel like I'm not being taken for granted. If I get to feel this way, I'll just quit giving the ride...plain and simple. Does the friend need to thank me for the rest of her life...NO..only as long as I continue to provide the ride.
Finally, I would prefer to be around people who DO feel gratitude and express it freely. The alternative...(gimme, the world owes ME something) is not only tiring and rude, but drains me of energy I could better use elsewhere. Comprende?

if that is all you are grateful for, just the being born part on that particular day, then you are right. but if a friend gave you a ride every day would you thank that person once or every day.
it all comes down to what you believe god is responsible for.. the rest is just common sense..

You told Him thanks for giving you life. What does that mean?
If you are thanking Him for Salvation then it's really not on a par with getting a ride from a friend. Salvation cannot be out done by anything else. Furthermore, anything else pales in comparison.
Finally, you should be thanking Him for all sorts of things every day.

It says in the New Testament to 'give thanks in all circumstances'. (Paul's letter to the Thessalonians. I could look it up, but you probably have a Bible somewhere.)
But I don't think that means constantly giving thanks, I think it just means that everything that happens is -good-, it's God's Will, even if it might not seem so to you. For instance, if you get in an auto accident, while you're lying there, bleeding, waiting for the ambulance to arrive, you say 'Thanks, God, for that wonderful auto accident!'
My own feeling is that God doesn't need constant thanks, that if you just have a grateful attitude he gets the message. When you give a kid a freshly-baked cookie you don't expect him to say 'Wow, what a wonderful cookie! Thanks so much! I really mean it!' You see how much he enjoys it, and that's enough, right? You baked the cookies and gave him one because you wanted him to enjoy them, so he does, and that was the result you expected.

two different things. You only gave your friend one ride to work. God gives us life daily........we are not guaranteed life daily........we are lucky to wake up daily.
Basically, IF you gave your friend a ride to work every day...
that friend should say thank you daily......should show their gratitude.....same thing goes for our lives. Are you grateful to still be alive??

Why not thank GOD everyday? You do awake each morning.
If the friend you gave a ride to work depended on you everyday, then "YES, he should tell you thank you for the ride to work." After all, he depends on you getting him there safely and on time. His work is his bread and butter. It is important for him to be there as it is for you. If you wern't around for him to ask you, he would be up the creek.
So, you can think of GOD as a driver...
He can take us where we NEED to be if we only ask. If you allow God to be apart of your life, you will see that you can count on HIM. HE will take you where you NEED to be safely. If you believe in HIM, HE will provide for you and your family. Let JESUS take the wheel.
Please, stop finding reasons to rebel against God. Is it because following His ways are too much for you?

Every time someone does something good for/to you. And you feel bombed if you don;t say thank you. Easy way to get over that strange feeling is to say a deserved thank you.

Since everything you have comes from God you should give prayer and thanksgiving always.. Thank you is not always needed or wanted, but should be the norm, and not be expected, but accepted graciously.
