I'm so sorry. You sound young to be dealing with this crisis.

If this were me (I'm fairly close to your mom's age), I would consult with my chiropractor. I've found that when medical doctor's can't find what's causing the problem, they tend to tell the patient that there IS no problem. A medical doctor will never send you to another type of practitioner (chiropractor, acupuncturist, etc.) because western medicine is competitive, it's more about the businesses' money than your mom's health. I'm sorry that this is so, but it is.

I wouldn't go to just any chiropractor. Mine practices something called Network Spinal Analysis. It was developed 25 years or so ago by Dr. Donald Epstein (also a chiropractor), who is still going strong in Colorado. You can learn more about what he does, and how, and possibly find a local practitioner to consult, at his website www.donaldepstein.com. Some of the chiropractors take health insurance. All are willing to talk with you, and are committed to helping people heal.

This may help, or maybe not. Encourage your mom to get a second medical opinion as well.

Good luck to you all.

Yes Alzheimers is a possibility. I've learned with doctors, YOU are the one who does the research and then you go to them and say "could it be this? or this?" and you make them do their job! My grandma, who has been diagnosed with beginning stages of Alzheimers, was in the hospitol last year around Christmas with severe memory loss (more than normal) and flu like symptoms...it turned out after tons of tests that she was drinking too much water. Every time she got up in the middle of the night which was 4-6 times with how much water she was drinking, she would drink another glass or two of water and then during the day she was constantly drinking water, and was forgetting she was. This is what caused the severe memory loss and other weird symptoms. As soon as the hospitol began monitoring her drinking 8, 6-8 oz servings of water per day (including juice and other liquids), she began to improve significantly.

If you are not happy with this doctor, take her to a new one, and yes, a specialist. Do some asking around, call offices of doctors with her symptoms and ask if that something they could help you with.

She needs to see a neurologist quickly. Good luck. Considering the stroke and seizures and now the confusion that would be the best thing to do.

Some early onset memory diseases can start this early. She really needs to see another doc and get a few more opinions. She should see a neurologist if nothing else. Good luck!
