I have a 3 year old daughter who is long sighted and has bad squints in both her eyes. She has been told she will need operations to fix this. Her consultant won't say when they do the ops, so does anyone have a child who has been through this and at what age did they do it, also what was the op like? Thanks

Madden your not funny she is a 3 year old child.

My daughter wears glasses for her long sightedness.

I was told the op would be before she starts school, but not sure when.....

It is definately a bilateral squint, not deviated septum.

Just for information, the surgery is to correct her squint it will not correct her long sightedness - she will always have to wear glasses surgery or no surgery.

Make sure she doesn't have a deviated septum.. this is what my sister has and it causes her random squinting. She doesn't even realize she is doing it. What was the diagnosis from the doctor she saw?

They usually won't do the surgery until after puberty. My daughter has been in glasses since 14 months (she is now 21 years) and we were told they could do the surgeries. We left it up to our daughter and she opted to remain in glasses

I would second opinion this. Her glasses prescription may also need altering.

I know a little girl that was cross-eyed. She had surgery to correct it at age 5 between kindergarden and first grade.

The parents took her to three specialists before making their choice.

I think if you have at least 3 opinions, and can afford to get them, you may have other options for your daughter.

Good luck with this.

I think at the age of 8 the eyes stabilise and any operation would take place after that

I squinted starting at about four and got glasses when I was ten.
You sure she doesn't need glasses?
