I think that there are alot of times when we are praying for things, and asking God to help us, but sometimes what we want, and what he has in His plan for us are two different things. I believe that everything happens in Gods time. If I pray for something and it doesnt happen, then I know that it wasnt part of His plan. I have come to realize that if you put your entire faith in Him, that he will never let you down. What you want, may not always happen, but maybe its for the best. Everything happens for a reason. You just always need to keep your faith because without faith it is impossible to please Him. What are some opinions & thoughts on this topic? CHRISTIANS only please!!!!! Also, does anyone have any good bible verses about things happening in Gods time?

I am in the middle of a big test of faith right now that makes that question so relevant to me.
When I was 13 I gave my life to Christ. When I was 15 I realized I was gay. Since I was small, I was always very delicate for a boy. I was into art and music, drama etc and not sports. But after wondering for a long time why I never found girls interesting, I finally got my first crush and it was on a boy.
Since then I have been praying to God to make me straight. I was told, 'Ask and it shall be given to you'. If God exists as I have been taught from the bible and God wants me to be straight and I pray to God to make me straight and it doesn’t happen, what next?
I can either get stronger and more flexible in my faith or reject it totally as garbage.
I have been through hell and back, walked the wilderness and I am not even 18 yet. Lately, I have been thinking about God answering prayers. But the answer God gives is not always a “Yes”.
Paul prayed and begged and prayed for God to remove a "thorn in his side" and God's answer was a flat out "No". According to 2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” God actually says that the imperfect “thorn” or weakness would actually make Paul a better, stronger person.
I am taking consolation in that for now.

Through my many years of life I have prayed for things I *wanted* or thought I needed..... some have been answered and some I am still waiting in faith on, and some I have come to realize will never come to pass.... why ? because it is just NOT in His plan for me, that simple..... I have over the years also seen why some prayers are not answered..... It just comes to me one day, I will get the answer as to *why not*...... I then look back and go, ahhhhhhh, I see now !!!! the answers are there I believe, the answers for *why not*, *later*, *maybe*, if we will learn to stand in faith and wait, it is or will be there...... We have to learn to be silent and still...... hard to do, but I know we all can do it !!!! go in peace..... God bless

God answers every prayer. Sometimes the answer is "no". What if I was praying for someone to die? Of course God wouldn't do that for me. And if he did, then the ones who are against him would say that he is a cruel God and I shouldn't worship him because of it. But, I guess you just can't please the non-believers.
I agree with you. God may tell us no because he has something else in mind for us. Besides that, God only helps those who help themselves. It's like that blonde joke, where the blonde prays and prays and prays to win the lottery, and finally God tells her, "Work with me, buy a ticket!" No, I don't think praying to win the lottery is something worth God's attention, but it's a good way to explain things.
Sometimes when we pray God gives us the opportunity to make it happen, but he doesn't just do it for us. That's like asking your parents for a car, and not being willing to help pay for it.
Besides that, alot of people forget to thank God for the prayers he has answered.

When you pray a prayer that prayer has to be lined up with God will or else it will not materialize. i think you said the same but in a better way. May God Bless You.

My belief is that our relationship with God is like the one that we have with our children. We are his children and he is our father. Just like when my kids ask me for something or to do something, I sometimes say no. It is not because I am trying to limit their fun or that I am trying to make them miserable, it is just that I have seen more and know more than they do. I may see a problem or danger with what they want and even though for me to deny them may hurt their feelings or they may think that I am unfair, I know what is best. I will ALWAYS do what is in THEIR best interest. So to answer your question, I think that God denies us some of the things that we pray for in our best interest. He knows what is best for us.
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Why won't god heal amputees?
The only prayers God has ever answered are those that can be explained as coincidence. It's been tried in scientific studies. If you pray to win the lottery, you have exactly the same chance of winning as if you hadn't prayed.

He answers prayers. He is listening. You need to listen too. Know His Word so that you realize when God is communicating with you.
