When you feel like you're about to have a cold, take 1000mg of vitamin C per day. It's what I do and it really works. If i already have a cold, I still take 1000mg of Vit.C per day along with a cold tablet or a paracetamol so i can sleep better. Don't worry about overdose. The excess Vit.C your body doesn't use just comes out in your urine..

Nothing will prevent a cold. If it did we would all know about it and the makers of any medicine or whatever that could prevent colds would be very rich. Just have plenty of fluids maybe paracetamol and rest as much as you can.

When you feel a cold coming on, it can be beneficial to take something like Airborne (you can find it in a drugstore--has a lot of Vitamin C etc.), to drink green tea, and especially to take Echinacea. Once you have a cold, keep drinking green tea and taking Vitamin C, and also drink as much water as you possibly can to help flush everything bad out of your system.

I sometimes eat a raw onion just before I go to bed. You can have it with some cheese and salt on a slice of bread. Its Quite tasty, try it.
It does 2 things, it raises your temperature and helps keep people away so you don't spread the Bugs.

I have found that Airbourne is very reliable for me to prevent colds.

Most any of the OTC meds work ok while you have one.
