If there was not a single evidence then why there's Jerusalem on the map?

This is an interesting question, because of the fact that outside the bible and New Testament, we have very little physical evidence that Jesus existed, or that the miracles recorded in the bible actually occurred. Other than the millions of people who believe in Jesus and His message, and the thousands of churches these people attend, and the millions of bibles they read, it is very interesting to note that, other than that, there is very little other physical evidence that someone can hold up and say,"Here is proof of the existence of Jesus and the others in the bible." I guess Jesus was right when He said,"My words shall never pass away."

We know that ancient Greece, Rome and other civilizations, nations and cities existed because of the buildings they built and archeological evidence they left behind.

It seems that sometimes it is only by faith and tradition that has been handed down through the centuries that we today believe that not only Jesus, but also many other people, leaders, authors, philosophers, early scientists and countless other characters are remembered.

It is generally accepted that Jesus was an actual man, a historical figure. The question is, of course, the accuracy and subjectivity of the stories told in the Bible, which were likely passed down by oral tradition which leaves room for changes and errors, as well as bias. It is also generally believed that these stories were not actually written down until a few decades after Jesus' crucifixtion and death. Most scholars in the fields of biblical studies and history agree that Jesus was a Jewish teacher from Galilee who was regarded as a healer, was baptized by John the Baptist, was accused of sedition against the Roman Empire, and on the orders of Roman Governor Pontius Pilate was sentenced to death by crucifixion.

I had heard that we know that there was a Jesus of Nazareth because Jesus was a popular name and Nazareth was a large city.

Other than stories being passed down, I don't think that there is any evidence.

Here is something to get people upset. The Bible didn't even exist as a single source until the Catholic Church created it from earlier writings and it was the authority of the Pope that made it a valid document. So it wasn't the Bible that said that the Pope was right, it was the Pope who said that the Bible was right.

Let the screaming begin.

Yes there is. one of the evidences is the new testament and those manuscripts that were found in the middle east that were written by some of the prophets and scholars about his teachings especially those manuscripts that were written by the apostle John and the book of revelation.

second is the bible. one of the prophets of the old testament foretold about the coming of Jesus 300 to 500 BC.

third are the historical monuments in which Jesus had performed miracles and where he prayed like in Gethsemane
and archaeologist three to five years ago found a rock saying "James, brother of Jesus" in which it is true that Jesus did have brothers and sisters through his earthly father Joseph.

in short, Jesus really did exist in this world. don't loose your faith by some doubts that are earthly. read the bible and Jesus will answer your questions subconsciously.

May your faith in God be strengthen... God Bless You!

actually, archeological evidence is always being uncovered that co-incides with the record of biblical events. It doesn't always relate verbatum, and some times it even refutes the written accout. But often it will confirm events as recorded. For instances, the mummy of Ramses was recently discovered.

As far as Jesus, I do believe there are historical records that indicate he lived. In fact, there are records in India and other lands where Jesus supposedly went for religous training. The holy people of those regions report a man who came to them for teachings (at this time) and there realized he was the messiah.

Interesting topic, I'm sure you can spend years studying the records.

Is there any scientific evidence that Jesus existed?
Not scientific, but there are some historical documents strongly suggest it.

Or scientific evidence that events depicted in the holy bible actually happened?
Depends on the event. Most archaeological evidence suggests much of the major events occurred but were grossly exaggerated.

The media at that time was very weak compared with modern media, because of the costs of production (no printing was the major problem, transport costs greater, less wealth for common people).

Also Romans weren't greatly interested in their provinces, they were concerned about Roman figures of history, great Greek and Stoic philosophers.

And the Jewish establishment detested him, so weren't motivated to provide any accounts of his life.

His followers of course wrote the 4 gospels, and there is the epistles, which show that the teachings of Jesus were having powerful effect. The punishment of christians as scapegoats when Nero burnt Rome is documented by at least one Roman historian.

So look into those accounts and see if you think they are well-assembled, and present a good case for his existence.

One thing about Jesus is that if you do believe, certain spiritual consequences follow. So its possible to prove to oneself, outside any considerations of examination of the accounts according to rigorous scientific techniques, that He was who He claimed He was, rose from the dead, and paid for the sins of those who believe.

The Bible contradicts itself about Jesus, e.g. one part says he was born in the reign of Herod who died in 4 BC, while another part says he was born during the census of Quirinius who took charge of the area in 6 or 7 AD. Joseph is said to be 28 or 41 in line from David in different parts, but if Joseph was Jesus' father, Jesus was not God's son...and if Joseph was not Jesus' father, Jesus was not the Messiah. Jesus was not mentioned in any histories written in his time...if one can determine his time. If he really was so important, many historians would have told about him. Later historians just report tles they heard that happened before their times. It seems that Christians added Jesus to some later histories, especially that of Flavius Jospehus, to try to boost their beliefs. I see people who form their beliefs prematurely and try to manipulate the evidence to suit those beliefs. The best way to find truth is to look objectively at all of the evidence without preconceptions and decide based upon the best evidence. I see no real evidence that Jesus existed but many things that make me doubt it.

but history mentions Jesus Christ:

Flavius Josephus, a first century Jewish historian wrote of Jesus and the Christians:

"so he [Ananus, son of Ananus the high priest] assembled the sanhedrin of judges, and brought before him the brother of Jesus, who was called Christ, whose name was James, and some others (or some of his companions) and when he had formed an accusation against them, he delivered them to be stoned."

Cornelius Tacitus wrote about Jesus and the first century Christians in his Annals (a history of the Roman empire):

"Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus."

Even the atheist H. G. Wells spoke of Jesus, "...one is obliged to say, "Here was a man. This part of the tale could not have been invented."
