Check the answers. They object and attack others on the behalf of gays, then they use gays as an insult!!

Even sweet Pangel (((((HUGS))))) joined in the attack. That was a major surprise. Not you Pangel (((((HUGS))))), With all the hugs you give. You would think you would be the last person.

Well dear Atheist. You are human after all. You have feelings and get upset when someone push your buttons. Maybe that will remind some of you who relish attacking others. :-)

I know Pangel is not Atheist. Even a sweet person like her use it as an insult, and came in to their side. That just was an eye opener. Not very nice.

I am sorry Pangel for adding you as an example. That was not easy to mention.
quote:' in the closest you mean ?
uh hu"
The question was if that person was a man!
I really like you, but the answer, not so much. Not just hers but others who used it as an insult.

Sapient, believe or not. I am not Francine.
This is not about her. It is about the reaction of people. I don't agree with her silly questions, anymore than I agree with all the hateful answers against anyone. She pushed you into a corner, and you don't like it. Maybe that will be a good reason not to mock others. Think about it.

2007-10-25 06:14:49 · update #5

I didn't refer to all of you . Read the question again. SOME.

2007-10-25 06:18:48 · update #6

You do know that the question is not about Pangel of Francine. It is about the reaction of people.
If you can't see that. Then never mind.

Pangel, You should feel so happy and please you have so many people who likes you, I am one of them. That is why I was suprise by the answer you posted.

This site is filled of insults and attacks on others, the majority of it is against Christians, but no one should dare and ask you why some of you seems to have a problems with gays. Some of you insult Jesus, Mary, God, and they think it is funny. oh well.

♥Rae♥ NY, I have 100% no problem with Pangel. The question is not about her. She is not Atheist. Her answer to the second question surprised me. maybe she thought it was funny, again it is not about her.

PANGEL, SORRY. I don't like your answer, it didn't sound very nice to me. Again, the question was not about you. It was about the reaction to people when they were accused of being gay.
You can hate me if you wish, I still like you, even when I disagree with what you answered at that time. One remark is not going to change my view of you. As far as I know, you are a good person. Thanks for answering.

Homophobia is not limited to the christian community, they're simply the most vocal in their condemnation of homosexuals. Did you really imagine that ONLY christians are homophobic? Fear and hatred of homosexuals goes way back and is not limited to religion. They've been persecuted by almost every religion and culture for thousands of years.

Well the links aren't working. I think that what they do is a little gross and I don't particularly want to hear about it. But many people would say the same thing about me when I was on the road playing rock n roll for a living. So frankly it really doesn't effect me, so I don't especially care. Rather someone is gay or not really isn't an issue unless they go out of their way to make it one, and usually they don't.

I feel the same way about straight people. I really don't want to hear about what they are doing in private.

i have no problems with gays.

here is the problem with your question. we atheists have no doctrine. we all THINK for ourselves. some probably don't like gays. most, i'm sure are tolerant.

you cannot pigeon hole us in one neat little sect or denomination like we can do with christians because we are not sheep and don't have to conform. contrast is not a sin.

who on here got upset? seems you are the only one upset.

for the record, we are mad with francine for posting the same exact question on several consecutive days.

I'm not against homosexuality. It's their lives. Who am i to say what's right and wrong if they love someone.... even if it's the same sex.

I think you are mistaking something, though....... Atheism does not equal acceptance of homosexuality. Some atheists who believe more in nature do believe that same sex relationships are against nature.

Atheists have a very broad range of opinions on many different topics. Some atheists are pro-life, some are pro-choice...... some are for death penalties, some are against..... you cannot blanket one belief over an entire group of people.

Not even all christians are against homosexuality..... some accept it because they may know someone who is a homosexual and they see them as being nice people and they don't take the bible literally so they don't believe they are sinning or going to hell for being homosexuals. So who is the hypocritical group when it comes to the christians?
The ones who preach love, but practice hate? Or the ones who love and accept all as their "good book" claims they are supposed to?

Edit:
Yeah, you did mention "some"...... but the original question is "Atheist, do you have any problem with gays?" ....... You answered your own question by saying "some of you do." Of course we know that.... just like we know SOME people are racist, or some people are naturalists........ SOME people are homophobic. Next time you ask a question, do not 1) make a blanketed statement over a group of people who all have different beliefs/opinions and 2) don't answer your own question.

Sounds like you have a personal issue with Pangel! Pangel is a beloved person in this site and has lots of friends that will back her up! I suggest you find other ways to keep yourself busy then to come here and start trouble and make up stories!
Pangel does not hurt, offend anyone in here. She is too sweet and humble to do that!

Atheists are a diverse group, so it is all too easy to over-generalize about us. I once shared a flat with a gay guy. I picked up gals, while he picked up guys, and neither of us tried to steal the other's lovers. If he tried to pick me up, I would not like that at all, but he was a nice man. Another man I knew was heterosexual, but he was obnoxious, so I preferred the nice gay man as a roomie.

Atheists aren't tied together in this issue by a book that teaches homophobia. WE AREN'T A GROUP. There is nothing tying one non-religious atheist to the next other than the shared lack of belief in deities.

I imagine there would be some atheists who are homophobic... but they got that way through their own means- not because they read it in a book or were told to by their fellow atheists.

Hate is hate- and I would react just as harshly against another atheist as I would against ANY Christian who would condone the negative treatment of gays in America. The attitudes facing gays are no different than the attitudes facing Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians in the past as well as those still facing atheists, overweight people, Jews, Muslims, etc... There is not a SINGLE good justifiable reason for this type of behavior. Not one. Stupidity is not an excuse. Bigotry is bigotry and should never be condoned- however it still occurs, and is no more or less shameful when dished out by anyone, no matter what label they go by.

I don't have a problem with people being homosexual. That's just part of who they are. I don't doubt that there are some atheists out there that do have a problem with people being homosexual. I wouldn't call that hypocrisy simply because there is no dogmatism in atheism... nowhere does it say that if one is an atheist he must accept homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle. Atheism simply means that one lacks a belief in a deity, that is all.

What i WOULD consider hypocritical is the Christian stance on homosexuality. Their holy book says that they should kill homosexuals... do any of them do this? No... In fact, the Jewish holy book says the same thing. They know it's wrong to do this, and yet, they still say they live by the bible, or the torah... Hypocrites.

"there is no one ideology or set of behaviors to which all atheists adhere"

Definition: "a person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being or beings"

I don't see how being a homosexual has anything to do with an Atheist. Yea, I'm sure some Atheists have a problem with homosexuals but so do some Christians and Catholics and Buddhists and Hindus. You're making a generality and atheists are irrelevant to anyone's opinion of homosexuals.
