That is a dumb question to pose to anybody. It just shows that she is smarter then you.

No,don't be alarmed - just be thankful that you have found a girl who recognizes that stuff happens and things change. Making promises for things that may be beyond your control are not wise. As long as she seems happy with you now, don't press for permanent committment unless you are planning to get married (and even that's not a guaranteed situation). Take it one day at a time and be thankful for each happy day that you get.

Depending on what you are talking about. I wouldn't be alarmed because i would like to get to know why she thinks so because it could be something that you can work on.

May be you two can learn to get into transition together, merge into each other's lives in a smooth manner and the future would be clearer than before

Depends, if you're both over 30 yrs then yes you should be alarmed bcoz it means she's not sure that you are her future. But if you're both under 20 yrs then yes its normal. You're both way too young to be thinking about forever with each other. Enjoy the relationship and see where it goes. Have fun.

She cant predict the future for you. You may do something that is soooooo bad that she would leave you. She's a woman of her word sound slike. She doesnt want to say she will "never" leave you, then you break her heart and throw her promise in her face. Focus and today because it is all you have control over.

That is normal because that promise would give you free reign to be the lyingest, cheatingest, filthiest, laziest jerk on the planet. I would not be alarmed since she is a girlfriend and not a spouse. I would say that is very honest and reasonable.

ya thats a little weird! She obviously doesn't feel very strong feelings for you! and she doubts why she is with you! If she had feelings for you then you would be the only guy in her eyes and leaving you wouldn't be an option for her unless you did something to her! I wouldn't like that at all! Tell her if shes planning on leaving you, you would like to know before you get into deep! She has to at least show you that respect!

Its an alarm she's not sure...things could change down the road. If someone wants to be with you forever trust me, they will say it. I was in the same situation and I hesitated when asked the question...because I wasn't sure how things would go.

The truth is, in this case, not normal.

I had a friend who asked her husband if she would leave him. He responded that so far she was the best thing in his life, but he didn't know what would happen if someone he found more appealing came along.

Truthfull, but as you might have guessed, my friend is now divorced, because later on, he did cheat on her (though there were lots of other problems).

If we were all reasonable people, we could accept the plain, unvarnished truth.

None of us is reasonable. You want to hear - NEED to hear that this person is going to stay for the rest of your long and happy lives. You need that in order to plan, to get up in the morning.

Personally, I think the following response, equally truthful and perhaps far more bitter is actually healthier:

"Leave you? I've met tons of people that I think I'd have been better off, but here I am with you. Yeah you. Wahoo. Does that answer your question?"

Only fate knows the answer. She is a very honest person that knows she doesnt have the future in her own hands. You seem to be controlling to even want that promise. That alone would make me leave.

No one can predict the future or how we'll feel in that future. Your gf is simply being honest. Whether or not this 'alarms' you is up to you. Personally I think you should probably not obsess about it.
