Satan is very clever and much smarter than many believe. He knows what your deepest, darkest fears and secrets are and he will use them against you. Fear is the absence of faith. You are only afraid because you don't trust God enough to know that there is nothing to be afraid of; He didn't give us the spirit of fear. It's kind of a test from God, but more of an attack of Satan. Whatever the issue is that you fear and are still dealing with, find every scripture written on it and and on fear. Read these scriptures aloud daily. Speak these scriptures into the atmosphere and declare that you will no longer live in fear. This will build up your faith, which decreases your fear. Walk in the authority that God has given you and fear nothing.

God does not test us in this way. It may be a torment from Satan, but not from God. Sometimes God will allow us to 'fall' so that in the picking up process, we can grow and find a strength that we never knew we had. I think the part about our worst fears being realized, is in part, cause deep down in us, we already know the truth.

The devil is always preying on our weaknesses.
How does he know how to attack us? We tell him.
What happens is he will bring temptation upon a man. If the man quickly rebukes the temptation, the matter is over. Yet, if the man ponders upon it, the devil will keep bringing it to surface making it more and more enticing.
Rebuke the devil and he will flee.
So what it comes down to is we must live by faith. The more one gets grounded in the Word of God, the more he can move from the wiles of the devil.
When the devil tempted Jesus in the desert, how did Jesus defeat his temptations. He said, it is written. The Word of God will destroy the works of satan.

Just remember God is in control and Satan Has to answer to him (remember the book of Job) our temptations come from our own desires,
With that being said. Just remember we are not perfect. Nobody is. Some of us are better at hiding things than others. But everybody has sins. From what I have seen everybody has some major Sins in there life.
With that being said, Remember that is why Jesus Died for us. to take the sins away and wash us clean. It may be a test from God. Just remember that it all works out to glorify him who sent you.
Keep the faith and God Bless.

I don't think it was a test at all, but rather, one of the things (that happens for a reason) to help mold the kind of person you will become. Life has hurdles, and getting through them makes you stronger. Let me give you a personal example:
My mother-in-law, who was also my best friend, died of Cancer on January 3rd. When diagnosed she felt fine, and procrastinated doing anything about it, until it was too late. Ultimately, she wasted away over a 14 month period, never believing she was going to die, and always fighting. Her hospice workers considered her an "enigma" as she lingered on for months at the end, not taking in any food or water, but just refusing to give up her fight. At the same time, I was unknowingly 3 months pregnant and miscarried the baby on Christmas Eve. When she found out, she blamed herself for the stress she had caused me (I had been her main caregiver over those 14 months) and shortly thereafter died. The missing piece of the story, my husband and I had been desperately praying for another child. I wanted to be sad and angry for losing the baby (ok, I WAS sad and angry), but we came to realize that the baby was never meant for us to have (thus he gave me no symptoms to alert me that I was pregnant and form a major attachment to the baby). My mother-in-law was a total "softie" for babies, and God was answering our prayers to help her let-go and pass peacefully. He used the baby as a tool to help her cross and know there would be someone waiting for her on the other side.
The loss of the child, and the best friend/mother, have made the relationship between my husband and I even stronger. We are stronger in our spiritual walk, stronger in our relationship as a couple, and stronger/better parents to the son that we have. Those two losses have molded us into the unbreakable "team" that we are, and as we go on with our daily lives and plan for our future, we do it with that strength and knowledge behind us.
Whatever your dilemna, you will come out smarter and better because of it. Have faith.

It is the opportunity to learn a life's lesson. Your teachers fear was her fear because the possibility already existed. She probably always knew her son was gay and, therefore, feared it most. Perhaps your teacher needs to learn how to love unconditionally. God did not make her son gay, but He can use that to help her learn an important life's lesson. Whatever sin you are struggling with is your weakness, it is your cross to bear and yours alone to overcome. We all have one area in our lives that we fail at regularly. Some people don't know how to show God's love, they only show His wrath and judgment (which is not theirs to show!). Some people struggle with drugs and alcohol, others with sexuality, others with lying or stealing or self-righteousness. The truth is that we all have sin in our lives and we will always will. We can choose to FLEE from that sin or we can choose to continually allow ourselves to be tempted by it and then give in to that temptation. Make no mistake, though, God is not the one tempting you!

Too complicated. And I have no experience with this. Get counseling and there are a lot of web site from former gay people who have come to Christ who can help, I'm sure.
You need to fight it and learn to understand you desires properly.
AND I would (kindly) suggest to your bible study leader to teach the bible and not mention her son so much. I hope she is not teaching men. If so, quit now! Go to a sound b.s.

I believe it's from the book of Job: "That which I greatly feared has come upon me." If you have unresolved sin issues in your life, you can almost bet that you will be placed in situations where you will be confronted with that very sin.
God wants His people to be holy, even as He is holy. We are incapable of dealing with our own sinfulness, so we have to place that sin under the Blood of Jesus and ask God to change us. As long as we try to deal with it using our own human strength, we're going to get wiped out. Sin is from Satan, and we are no match for his power.
Next time, remember to ask God to help you with the sin that besets you. Place it under the covering of the Precious Blood of Jesus, and rely on the strength and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Otherwise, it will continue to return again and again until you confront it and give it over to God.
P.S. My "besetting sin" is anger. You're not alone in this ordeal of having to deal with something you hate. St. Paul said that the good he wanted to do, he couldn't, but the sin that he hated, he did. We've all got our reoccuring issues to deal with.

God is testing you by allowing satan the chance to control you, as well as everyone else in life. Don't allow satan to control you, and you will pass the test. This is my belief. If you'd like you can comment on this, and I will refer back to this question. God Bless.
