But that's not what Steve said before he committed suicide. So what he did say would have to be the most painful thing I've ever heard. I did not know at the time what he was planning to do, but perhaps I should have guessed. I remember it all so clearly that it still echoes in my mind nearly two years after. Very possibly always will.
I said I had to go to the bathroom. He said, "Give me about ten minutes." A few minutes later while I was sitting in the bathroom, I heard a pop and a thud. The pop was his gun going off, and the thud was his body falling to the floor.
But he never said goodbye.

That I'm morally equivalent to a murderer, rapist and child molester.
That is so hurtful that you can only imagine. Worse still, the people who say this stuff have some success in convincing others that it is true.
The word they use to encapsulate all the foul things that I am accused of is usually:
"Abomination".
It's not even so much how it hurts me, but my kids hear it...

the only people that can hurt me are the people I love and the only thing they could say that would hurt me is that they are disappointed in me. That would cut like a knife.

Perhaps that I don't love my family ... although I know I love them more than anything, so maybe it wouldn't really hurt. But I know that would one of THEM say that, it would be very hurtful.
