empty stomach yesterday and it made me feel sick for a while. I ate a good breakfast this morning and only took 1/2 of the pill. I am sicker today than I was yesterday. What's the deal? When does the nauseau stop? I can't stand this. I need something for pain that won't make me vomit.

I was on it for a while and to be honest with you I felt the same way. When I took it on an empty stomach I was a little nauzeated for a short period of time. However, when I took it with food, I vomited. It's strange I know. So after that I just started taking it on an empty stomach with a tall glass of water even though you're not supposed to. I believe that for me it didn't last as long because it absorbed into my system faster that way. However, I'm not telling you to stray from the directions. Simply telling you what worked for me.

The reason you felt sick is because you took it on an empty stomach yesterday. Hydrocodone might make you nauseous but it does a great job at killing the pain. When I used to take it, I would eat, take the pill, then lay down for about an hour. The nausea feeling would usually go away after that. But if you really think that you cant stand it, then call your doctor and tell him, he'll get you something different. =)

First of all the reason why you felt so bad was because you took the pill on a empty stomach. That's a very big no no...You will damage your kidney and liver if you keep doing that.Eat a good meal and take the full thing , you should not break it in half and take the other half later. If the doctor felt that a lower dosage would have been OK for you than that's what he would have prescribed.Good Luck...

I'd ask your doctor before you take anything different, but when I had oral surgery I simply took ibuprofen. It's not as strong as the hydrocodone, but at least it doesn't make you sick.

P.S. sip some gingerale if you feel crummy...always helps me!

Call your surgeon and tell him/her what is happening. You're not the only person that has this issue with hydrocodone and they'll have an alternative.

You need to call up your surgeon and ask for a different medicine. Tell him your problem and offer to bring in your unused medicine when you pick-up a new prescription.
The nausea won't go away. You are just unable to tolerate that medicine, there are others.

I have had similar experiences with hydrocodone. I finally stopped taking it because it made me feel like crap everytime. I did find that non-generic pills caused me to feel less sick. Ask your doctor/pharmacist and/or see if there is something else you can take instead.

Some people cannot take Lortab (hydrocodone) at all, my mother gets sick no matter the dosage, if she has eaten or not. You may need to get something different.

My guess is that you'll be fine. Does the prescription say to take as needed for pain? I would just take the prescription with you and let them know under what circumstance you took it (for instance, and old sports injury was acting up). good luck.

Call the doctors office, tell them you are not tolerating this medication well, and tell them what's happening.
They can call in a new prescription ( for another pain med.) to your pharmacy, shouldn't be a big deal.
