Why not? I can fulfill all of my lustful desires without any scruples whatsoever. I'm talking orgies, drink champagne and watch porn every Sunday morning with random women (when I should be in church), think lecherous thoughts, take the lords name in vain, hang out with witches etc. etc. etc.

Why not? if all I have to do is repent at the last second I still get into heaven!

Well, one reason is because you might die unexpectedly and not get the chance.
The other truth you are not getting is that you can't just "decide" whenever YOU want to get saved. You have to answer the call of the Holy Spirit, and the Bible says that He will not always strive with men. The more your conscience and spirit become "seared" to God's truth, the longer you reject His call, the more chance that you will miss your window of opportunity and it will be too late to turn back.
You don't get to play those games with God--to put it in today's slang, "That's not how He rolls"

Those who do repent in later years also have to live with the lifetime of regrets and consequences of their sins. Usually those deathbed conversions you hear about happen because God got their attention in a very unpleasant way to get them to the bottom so they could see they were lost. On the flip side of that are all the blessings these people missed because they didn't serve God with their lives. They may get to heaven, but they will have no crowns to lay at the feet of Jesus. I pray that you will accept the life preserver he is offering you while you're still in the boat and not wait until you drowning and about to go under!

As long as you are thinking with the worldly mindset that this question is rooted in, you aren't going to understand my answer or anyone else's that is coming from a spiritual worldview. You need to pray that the scales can be removed from your eyes and you will begin to see that your life on earth is not about your pleasure, but that you were created by God to serve Him and bring Him honor and glory.

Because you may die in an instant and not have time to repent. Also, your repentance must be genuine and true. If your plan is to do all things sinfull up until the minutes right before your death, the LORD will no that you are not truly sorry for the actions you have done in your life.

Jesus taught that you can, in fact, come at the end of the day and collect the same wages as those who worked all day. God longs for our repentance and atonement, and he is prepared to forgive everything as long as there is life.

The older brother of the Prodigal Son thought this was quite unfair. But God thinks differently than people.

Part of the solution is that becoming God's friend is real happiness, and orgies, drunkenness, and one-night stands with random women may look like happiness, but actually is quite a miserable existence. The next morning you have a venereal disease, a bad hangover, and no love or romance.

Jesus also taught that no man knows the day and hour of judgment. Luke 12 is instructive:

And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.'

"Then he said, 'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry." '

"But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?'

"This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God."

Cheers,
Bruce

Repenting alone doesn't gain you everlasting life. Salvation is an individual reward that comes from our Heavenly Father by acquiring accurate knowledge of Truth from His Word, the Bible, and by applying this Truth to our daily life, and by helping spread the good news of His Kingdom.
Waiting until the last minute to try to turn your life and follow God, life doesn't always work out the way we planned it, that's like playing Russian roulette.

But see, thats the thing, God is watching you all the time and knows your heart your thoughts and everything else, and can choose to make it your last minute, if you don't want to ever repent, and think its okay to live a life like that, then you will eventually pay for it, you may pay now, just in small consequences for the things you do, but you'll have to pay eternity with Satan who started all these things that you think its okay to follow him in, Remember any time, We just never know, better to be prepared than to go to the other place.

the only thing I can say is how do you know when your last second will be?? Sure you can do this but it is very very high stakes. and plus you have to be true repent not just say some magical prayer. Also the Bible talks about rewards that we get for living a clean life.

With that in mind remember we will never be perfect. that is why we all need Jesus

who says you should be in church? god does not live in houses made by hands. we are god's house--for lack of a better explanation. we are all children of god, not just the moral majority. god put us on earth and he does not care how we live as long as we do good for each other. we do not have to be religious, we do not have to believe in him or the theology of crackpots--me included. :) Personally, I believe the world would be a much better and safer place without all of the 'isms' in it.

I've always wondered that too. Of course, a hardcore Christian would say that you never know when Jesus will come again to judge all these sins, and if you haven't repented yet.... you get to burn in hell forever and ever and ever. Or something.
