Have you by now found the 'church' means 'the called out', and that the scriptural old testament is not Genesis-Malachi but the law of Moses?
Part 1- Genesis-Malachi violates 2 Tim. 3:16-17.
Part two (Matt.18:16, 2 Cor.13:1) witnesses Joshua, David, Solomon, Nehemiah, Malachi,Jesus, and Paul to name a few.
(old testament is a synoym for law of Moses 2 Cor. 3:13-14 KJV or NKJV; other English versiions tend to call it old covenant presdently.

And every "denomination" has the Book of Acts.
And argue over the details.
Nothing new there...
To be a Christian means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. To learn more about Him, and about His instructions on how to become His disciple, and what He expects from His disciples, I would recommend the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
(The word "disciple" comes from the very same root word as the word "discipline". Think about it.)
I particularly like Luke, because he is so thorough, but for detailed instructions on the Christian life as Jesus teaches, read John.

And your point or question? Acts is the history book of the bible, always has been. Just as the 4 gospels have always told about what Jesus did while he was here.
There are 27 books, some are letters, some are predictions of things to come. The link below might be helpful to you.

The method of becoming a christian is delineated in John 3:16

Being a Christian means believing and following Jesus. Acts is a great book. It discusses how people truly connected to the faith and stood up to demonstrate it. It's almost depressing, cause I have not been able to do the stuff it talks about.

Acts is the history of how Christianity was founded and organized and solved it's problems. The community of believers began by faith in the risen Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit, who enabled them to witness, to love, and to serve.
New churches are continually being founded. By faith in Jesus Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit, the church can be a vibrant agent for change. As we face new problems, Acts give important remedies for solving them.

The entire New Testament is useful to show what you should believe (and what you should reject as false beliefs) and how you should conduct yourself as a believer.
