This forum is a wonderful tool to discuss and debate, but repeat questions are frequently posted either to generate another round of responses, possibly to draw out a new voice, or possibly just to push the buttons of those who feel strongly on the subject one way or the other.

Is the audience here unprepared to absorb the complexities of the subject matter? Is this category an outlet for those who are scared and frustrated? Or do some just need an outlet to vent their animosity, share their dark side and post information that is often tainted or out-of-date?

Well, a little of all of that. Plus you have some common questions that are going to appear again and again, as new people search for information (e.g., how can I save energy? What are compact flourescent bulbs? How much does solar enrgy cost?).

But the "animosity" element comes from a specific source. Man-made global warming is an established fact--nevertheless there are people who, for political/religious reasons, refuse to accept that. And they are egged on by special interests attempting to block policy changes. And a lot of people (including myslelf) do respond--not because our "buttons have been punched" but to challenge these liars and to put the correct information out there so others are not confused (or at least less confused).

This forum should be about information--passing along tips on conervation, etc.--and about discussion of policy to deal with global warming and other environmental concerns. Not a "debate on whether global warming is real or if it's caused by humans." There isn't any such "debate."

Yes to all -
Be calm the world temperature is rising. the Ice is melting. The Magnetic pole is changing. That last one was a little off subject. I would like the people of this world to "Slow down" were moving to fast. Got to make this world last. I don't see any harm in Preparing for a global disaster that doesn't happen. Do You?
A lot of the people on Yahoo Answers are in High School or lower so unprepared to absorb the complexities. Yes

I think it depends on who's asking the question.

For one thing we often get new people who have just seen the Swindle or are just beginning to learn about global warming in school, and thus ask the same old questions we often see here.

Then there are the people who have been around here for a while and should know that the Swindle is full of misinformation, or that the current warming isn't part of a natural cycle. I don't know why they raise the same old questions - maybe they hear them on talk radio and forget that we've already debunked them here. Sometimes they ask lame Al Gore questions just to distract from the science of the issue, as it's not on their side.

Sometimes I'll repeat old questions such as "if humans aren't causing the current warming, what is?" just to see if there are any new explanations and to show that there is little or no scientific evidence supporting global warming denial. I think it's important to allow the other side an opportunity to prove their theory, and see if they can do it.

So I guess it just depends on who's asking the time warp question, and what kind of question it is.

I think the answer is yes to all of your questions, I suspect if you picked any ten individuals, half skeptics and half supporters of AGW, who regularly visit this forum and put them in a room together. There would be even more bickering and sarcasm, and all would leave with the same opinion on the subject, because this subject is still a theory.

Its the most political section? Huh! The Trolls are out and about there! Its hard to find the middle ground on the Environment, a general consensus seems impossible.
