Okay, I was doing my 14 month old daughters hair this morning and while I was putting it up I noticed something crawling on her scalp! So I picked it off! I found like 3! Well they were like clear with a little black dot! I found no lice eggs at all! So I have been looking on line to see if it was lice! It really doesn't look it as the pics are so magnified! So if there is no lice eggs and they were crawling on the scalp, what could it be? My dog is usually outdoors, but comes in at night for a little while! So could it be fleas! Fleas are black! I just don't know! So what do you think it could be? Like I said no lice eggs and clear with a little black! very tiny, but crawling! There was only 3! I checked her whole head! Thank you for your time!

I t is LICE.....a curse! lol, no really wash all linens wash everyone's hair (all the family). spray all the furniture where u sit ect..yes kids at school pass it on even through their clothes and yes hairbrushes ect. Your daughter is so young. for this..is she in day care or has a sitter??? If so tell the caregiver or ask daycare how careful they r about head lice ( I would be checking sitters hair)Get pharmacist to tell u which med is best for this prob. and give the whole family a treatment. There r eggs and they will hatch and are attached to hair and must be taken out "one by one"!!! yuk. The whole family will look like TV evangelist with fluffed up hair but it is worth it! Insist their jackets in PE class are not thrown on top of each other and that child does not rub heads at recess ect with other kids. It is one of those unpleasant things in life we have to deal with. back in the day one had to go to dr and get RX for the problem..no more! Not an easy job...good luck! I dealt with it one time with one child and that was enough for us, lol.

As creepy as it is - it sounds like lice. Either scalp or body lice. Get some 'Rid' and follow the directions. You will need to deep clean her bedding and most - if not all of her clothing as well - otherwise they'll come right back. It's weird and gross - but - don't feel bad - it happens quite often. Get the stuff from a WalMart or drug store and, again, follow the directions on the package and all should be fine. Remember not to freak your child out about this, it can cause a lot of emotional conotations in kids when they get lice. It has nothing to do with cleanliness on your part - it is a social situation and infestation occurs simply because kids act the way they do around other kids. Good luck

If your daughter is 14 months do *NOT* use a chemical treatment from the chemist!!

Before you listen to anyone advising you to use a pesticide treatment please consider the following:

No chemical head lice treatment is legally allowed to be labeled as 'safe' as every insecticide is a poison. Every pesticide preparation has the potential to do serious damage depending on the individual.

Lindane for example is a known carcinogen and is now banned in 52 different countries. Yet it is still used in more than 6 million prescriptions in the US. Google 'Jesse's Story Head Lice' for more. All lice killing pesticides are a poison and have the potential to cause serious damage, even if used as directed.

You need to use something completely natural, such as baby oil to smother the lice and then help the nits slide right out. Even essential oils should not be used on anyone under two, although preferable to chemicals they are powerful medicines and should be treated with respect. The nits will need to be combed out with a flea comb.

Please read the following articles for more advice.

Good luck, we've been there.

Fleas are not clear. It sounds like lice . Get some Rid at the pharmacy and make certain her bed linens are washed. Lice are spread so easily in school. Kids touch each other and share combs, etc. Have a little talk with her about that. If you only found three, there is no epidemic so don't panic. But, you should notify her school .

Sounds like maybe fleas.....If she continues to have them I would remove them and place them in a container and see you pediatrician to be sure and they can give you recommendations about what to do. It is hard to tell without seeing what you actually removed from her.
