my artist uses "green soap" to wipe down the newly tattooed skin, to get all of the plasma and extra ink off. then he puts on a very thin layer of A+D ointment.

It is an antiseptic cream. You should be given some to take home or instructed what to get. The area must be kept clean and germ free until it scabs over and the scabs fall off.

Mine were covered with A&D Ointment to keep out the dirt and to keep it moist (to prevent scarring, which might screw up the art).

When my artist is done she wipes me down with almond scented wax remover....

I've always thought it was an alcohol or peroxide wipe.
