I have no voids in my life. I have a loving family, loving friends, self purpose in life, a challenging and fulfilling job, and feel the positive and negative aspects in life are just life's lessons. I deal with the hard times as best as I can and realize I will overcome them. I feel fortunate that I have people who care about me and will be there for me if I need them and I hope to do the same for them in their time of need. I always question the meaning of life but it's not from a religious or 'god' perspective. We are all human beings and all have the same basic needs. You have to remember, none of us are born with religion or belief in a 'god'. So in reality, if you were never taught this, you would never feel a void of something you didn't know about. I however, was brought up a catholic but went to different types of christian churches as I got older to see if that's what was missing. It was the same thing different scenario everytime. To be honest with you, I felt a void when I had a belief in a 'god' and had religion. I feel more free and at peace with myself now than ever before. I'm not trying to insult those who are believers. I mean no disrespect. I'm just trying to make some understand from an atheist's perspective. It's not necessarily bad.

I live my life like most other people in the community surrounding me. I do not feel a void in my life. I do question the meaning of life and why we are here - but that doesn't mean I have to believe in a god.
Just because believing in a god may "fill a void" or give me a warm and fuzzy feeling about why I'm here doesn't make it the truth.

Lacking belief in the gods is the default human condition. This is how one starts life. One has no control over what one does or does not believe.

I do not feel a void in my life because of my lack of belief in the gods. Do you feel a void because you believe only in the Yahwist Trinity, and not Zeus, Athena, and Odin?

People question the meaning of life whether or not they hold beliefs in the gods.

In scientific terms, the question "Why are we here?" can be answered by answering the question, "How did we come to be here?". And we have a very full understanding of this answer; belief need no longer apply.

Morality is not unique to religion nor is it more common among the religious. Morality is a basic biological norm for humans. Those who help each other have a better chance of survival. Those who do not, or are violent are usually quickly removed from living populations. Humans, by and large, understand morality from our capacity for suffering and our ability to empathize. There is no great mystery there.

I am constantly asking myself the meaning of life and why I am here! i have an interest in religion and philosophy but I am not religious!! I do feel a void in my life but i dont believe God is the answer. I do believe that religion can help one find ones self, and help find inner meaning. I feel that eastern religions such as buddhism interest me and are very peaceful. They dont preach that if u dont follow a god u will be punished! But as my day to day life goes I just don't believe there is a god with so many nasty cruel realities in this life and the divide between the rich and poor, I dont believe in having faith.

Simple, it is the same with people like you to live your lives everyday without believing the FSM is the creator for god? Do you ever feel a void in your head? Do you ever question the originality of god and why is he there so you can be here? Just curious.....

By the way, I was called Mr. Sarcastic by my friends .....

No void in my life. And I find looking at stars which are so far away that the light I see comes from the time of the Pharaohs, or reflecting upon the fact that a tiny group of organic molecules would evolve through several billion years of adversity and ruthless natural selection to eventually produce humanity, to be far more satisfying than believing in any god, as I used to.

Adults don't fret over such questions as "the meaning of life" and "Why am I here?" We don't have time for that; we're too busy living. A void in my life? Absolutely not: I have family and friends. How do I live my life? I got up every day and went to work and paid my taxes and came home and interacted with my wife and kids. Then when I retired and my kids were grown and gone, I undertook to learn new skills and improve old ones. I also interact with my community through my American Legion and VFW Posts and giving talks on Nineteenth Century medicine, emphasizing the period 1860-1865: the American Civil War. My wife and I interact with our children and their children and we travel and we operate our home ham radio station and we do Living History encampments with groups of like-minded friends. Our groups do Civil War encampments and skirmishes, and we're looking to join one that does the Revolutionary War. We don't have time to feel a void in our lives because we don't believe in a God...

***I often wonder how do atheist live their lives everyday without believing God exists***

In exactly the same way that you do, except I have 10% more of my income in my pocket, and don't talk to myself seeking guidance. I usually call family if I need advice.

***Do you ever feel a void in your life?***

Honestly? No.

***Do you ever question the meaning of life and why we are here?***

Daily. But to say,"Well, God did it, let's move along" is simplistic and self-deluding. Questioning is what made most of us realize that there was no god; not questioning has caused more undue suffering and wasted lives than anything in history.

Yes, sometimes I feel... not a void, but that question: why am I here, what should I be doing? Without a certain God or Truth to compel me, I have to determine my own motivations. I know that my family and friends make me happy; I know that doing good and having good done to me make me happy; I know that doing wrong and having wrong done to me make me unhappy.

Therefore without belief in God, I just try to do what I feel is right and what brings me happiness. I'm not an athiest, just an agnostic, because I don't believe we can disprove a God any more than we can prove one. But I think that's similar enough for the purposes of this question.

I live my life much better, since I saw that gods are fantasies. I miss Moses' God the same way I miss a toothache. I am free to create my own meanings to life... if any are needed. It seems strange to me that some people cannot imagine anyone living without some imaginary gods that only immature people can accept. I saw errors in the Bible at age 7. I quesion many things, but they do not concern gods. Do you feel a void and a lack of meaning without Zeus, Odin or Ma Lo Wong in your life? I miss your god as much as you miss these other gods from Greece, Scandanavia and China.
