They're called "intrusive" or "compulsive" thoughts and are a form of anxiety. They are a common symptom in persons with anxiety disorder. Something else in your life is bugging you and instead of being able to see it and deal with it, your mind makes up other (irrational) stories and images to unnerve you. It's kind of masochistic.

What can you do (short of visiting a mental health professional)? Understand what the thought really is. Let it happen without reacting to it so that it loses momentum and fades. Or practice exchanging it for another kind of thought.

Learn relaxation techniques, breathing exercises, and how to be less reactive to people, things, and images, in your daily life.

Do you have some kind of illness that would lead to blindness? Diabetes, glaucoma? If not the chances of you are blind are pretty slim unless you suffer a severe eye injury and even then you would have to suffer the same injury in both eyes to become totally blind in both eyes. Blindness is not a common result to most illnesses/injuries so the likelihood of it if you have no predisposition to it is very slim. try to conger your fear by tying a bandana around your head and feeling around your house and pretending you are blind. I had an eye problem a few years ago which caused me to be unable to see for a few days and it was very difficult and caused me to think about blindness but blind people function perfectly fine in most respects. Good luck and God Bless.

Get your eyes examined by an optometrist. If there's any problem whatsoever, he or she will tell you whether you're in danger of going blind.
