If you believe creationism is a theory like evolution, would astrology fall under the definition also?

Should we teach astrology in public schools?

absolutely, there can be no real destinction, besides the fact that they disagree with it in theory...it's "just as valid as astronomy"

*rolls eyes*

but goethe, aside form your personal views on the subject, is it any different, i would argue that it is not...and astrology has been around way longer than astronomy has...

Astrology meets none of the criteria for examination via the scientific method. A scientific theory can make predictions about occurrences - for example, heat wood to a specific temperature in the presence of oxygen, and you get combustion. Astrology does not predict anything. Michael Behe as a source? This guy was incompetent enough that he pretty much single-handedly tanked the argument for intelligent design being taught in PA schools. If you're going to defend a BS position, you need to be good a BSing.

Astrology is funny, it is taught in some schools.

Personally, I could care less- as long as my [future] children learn to read, write, learn math and get into college or some job besides burger king Im happy. If the school doesnt teach religious stuff then I do, because thats my job.

Astrology is hocus pocus created by Eastern mysticists who had trouble with Astronomy (couldn't leave well enough alone; had to think the stars and planets 'moved' us). You should be well aware that this is akin to Necromancy and Runestelling.

I vote for alchemy being taught as a valid alternative to chemistry! I have faith that alchemists will find the philosopher's stone and will create gold from base metals.

As a scientific theory, astrology is falsifiable (and has been falsified).

Creationism is not falsifiable, if you allow an omnipotent creator to create all the historical evidence at the time of creation.

I vote for phrenology getting equal time with psychology.

I think it is as valid as mythology, just like creationism.
