Hiya. I also have depression, have suffered on and off for a very long time now. The level to which it affects my day to day life depends on whether I am going through a good or a bad patch. It is always with me to some degree but there have been times I have been able to keep on top of it and get on with my life. When it is at its worst the problems I generally face are : trouble maintaining friendships/relationships, not wanting to leave the house, not eating, lacking motivation to do anything, including sorting out money matters, rent, shopping, going to work etc. At one point I ended up jobless, no income and facing eviction. Worse, I really didn't care at that point what happened to me. If it wasn't for some fairly determined friends of mine who refused to give up on me I have no idea where I would be now.
My advice to you is to try and find a hobby or local support group, something that will get you out of the house and in company, even if it is only once a week. If I didn't have that I would end up a total social recluse. Also it is a great help having someone to talk to, even if it is only about silly things. Make sure that you have some support too, whether from family and friends or from Dr's etc. A mixture of both would probably be best. Don't struggle by yourself. Take care and i hope you feel better soon.

I have been suffering from post partum depression for the past one year when I gave birth to a baby boy. I couldn't stop thinking about how my husband loves him more than me and how things might be better if he wasn't born at all. Thus, I stayed away from him because I knew that I might do something I will regret for the rest of my life.
Almost instantly I went to a therapist and convince them that I need help. Among other things, I've tried herbal supplements and other book to treat depression but nothing works like the Depression Free Method. So now I'm proud to say I'm one of the happiest mother in the world. My husband loves us both very much and I thank the Lord for the blessing he gave us.

more people than you think suffer from depression. Many have'nt been properly diagnosed. Many not at all. depression has many faces. I personally go through my day to day life with a smile, but all the while I'm so ....bleek inside that not even my favorite thing in the whole world can make me smile on the INSIDE. depression can cause you to have physical pains as well as mental. I have varying degrees of both. Everday pleasures arent pleasureable. You push friends and family away. Some days I just dont care if I even get out of bed. I have recently taken steps to change all this though and I know it will take more than overnight to fix and I would recommend that you get help too. Life is too short to let something like this keep you down.

Yes I do, I have major depression and I wouldnt wish it on anyone!!!!!!!!! I get soooooooooo tired, I have slept for months at a time. I eat when Im bored or sad. I had a borderline drinking problem/smoking problem. I get so overwhelmed I cant clean or even take care of me because I just dont CARE to. I cut to try and let the pain out when it gets bad. I get physically sick. And I have no choice but to work 9 hours a day to support my 3 kids since their dad is a loser and unfortunatly I dont have time to get the help I need (like councelling), Ive collapsed several times and ended up in the ER because my body gave up. The only thing that keeps me goin just a little is my meds and my kids. So if you have the time and resources I recommend meds and councelling! and support! Unfortunalty I have no family so I suffer alone and hold it all in to try and raise my kids right. If you have support, use it!!!!!!

Yes, I have for about 6 years now. Sometimes I feel like I don't want to speak to anyone, not even the people I'm closest to, and it also makes me feel like everyone hates me and thinks I'm worthless. I often feel worthless, pathetic, and stupid. I often can't see any positivity in my life. I also am constantly tired and sleepy. Also, I just feel empty alot. Like nothing really matters. It can affect my day to day life, and does, but you just learn to cope with and get used to it.

My wife does and it does cause all sorts of problems for both of us but you have to learn to deal with those problems and in most cases the drugs help once they have worked out which anti depressants suit your condition

yes, i have for many years
my advice...don't take any of those stupid meds, they are sooo bad for you! take your own steps to improving your condition.
- be social and get involved
- take a walk everyday
- talk to someone and tell them how you are feeling
- find a counsellor/therapist
- do things that make you happy
