Why not? Singing hymns won't convert me.
Would you sing at a Hindu funeral? or would you attend a Buddhist or Hindu religious meeting?

It is God who forbids us from singing songs that displease him. Most of Christendom's hymns glorify the trinity, the cross, Mary worship, the idea that all good people go to heaven and that souls are immortal. These are all pagan teachings, so why would any true Christian sing about them or praise them? Answer is they wouldn't, which is why Jehovah's Witnesses do not participate in singing songs or celebrating holidays and traditions that are derived from pagan origins and the traditions of men and are not based on Gods inspired Word. Just as church members do not sing our Kingdom songs because they don't like using Gods name and don't recognize that his Kingdom is a real Government that rules from heaven, for our own reasons, we do not sing their songs. We don't believe in the trinity, hellfire or the immortality of the soul and we do not celebrate pagan holidays which are also glorified in Christendom's songs.

As a Catholic, it doesn't bother me at all if people who aren't Catholic or Christian wish to participate in the funeral service--even so far as attending Communion. We're all there to mourn the deceased, not to quibble about disparate religions.
When I attend the funerals of people who are not Christian, I usually just sit quietly and listen to the service. If I don't know the songs, I either listen to them long enough to hum the melody or harmonize, or I keep quiet.

Yes because if a person feels so strongly .that they would refuse to sing a Hymn or at least stand respectfully so as not to draw attention they shouldn`t attend the service .If the prayer was "Our Father which Art in Heaven" ,i would repeat it because i do believe in God even though i`m not Christian as such .

No I don't believe so won't be drawn into singing about something I don't agree with no matter the occasion. You go to a funeral to say good bye not to suddenly find God. I also tend to blank out all the God parts of the service.

Absolutely. I used to cantor for the Catholic Church and did so for 15 years. Some hymns are really lovely. I also happen to be a very good singer. I guess I'd have to be if my profession is opera. xoxo Me: Buddhist

I attended the church funeral of my 18 month old grandson last year in respect for his paternal grandparents who are christian. I did nor sing or pray. When I went to shake the hand of the vicar afterwards for his kind words whilst on stage he refused to shake mine and wouldn't even look at me.
Says it all, doesn't it?

Yes, it's no big deal. I'm not a Christian but I respect people who are and there is no need to be disrespectful. I'm comfortable in my own spirituality to maintain a universal love and respect for all things.

I just stand quietly. I rarely go to funerals anyway. I hate them.
