People who are tattooed do not see it as 'disfiguring' their bodies. They like the art. And tattooing has been around for centuries. Some people do it for artistic reasons, and it's not dumb in the least. Some people get tattoos to signify times or people in their lives that they don't ever want to forget. Even when they are old and wrinkly, they can still look at their tattoo and remember back to when they got it. And I know for me, that will make me smile.
And didn't your mother ever teach you that if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all? It's common courtesy.
What may be considered 'dumb' is coming into the tattoo section and bashing people's choices about what THEY do with their bodies. It's not your choice.

I have more than one tattoo and not one of them's really small, one is in my neck which is a pretty visible place. I won't ever cover my whole body, but from your question it is evident that you don't understand tattoos or the people that get them. Its a very personal thing and frankly, I couldn't care less what anyone thinks or thought of my tattoos. Just by calling tattoos disfiguring shows your lack of understanding.
Live and let live a little...
Add - and for those who mentioned the age thing, well, my body will be all wrinkled and old and my tattoos will become wrinkly and old with my body. In fact, I can't wait to see what new shapes they will have... ;P

Your Entitled To Your Opinion In The End...
But In Hindsight People Who Are Heavily Tattooed, Wouldnt Give Two Sh!ts About What People Think Of Them. After All They Are Doing Something They Love....
But It Does Show How Narrow Minded Some People Are In This Day And Age..

people get tattoos because they are art and they often hold significant importance to the person who has it.. i get mine to symbolize a part of my life.. and if someone wants to have their body covered in visible memories then that's their choice.. it's their skin time, and money.. not your's.. therefore you really have no place to say who is or isn't "dumb".. people often have good reasons for their tattoos.. it's not a disfigurement.. it's symbolic.. it's intended.. and it's art..

I'm not a fan of body filled tattoos, but those who do it are showing their individuality. Making a statement in that way.
I've seen some beautiful artistic tattoos, items that would be fit for fine art museums. They just get to walk around with the art.

Well this is what I have been told.
"I wake up every morning and spend time deciding how to express my self artistically with my hair, makeup, and clothing choices. Tattoos are just another way to express myself and I don't even have to worry about them everyday when I get ready."
This came from a very eccentric woman who was REALLY tattooed.

People get tattoos to express who they are, to mark a time in their lives, to remember someone or something, etc. There are tons of different reasons why people get tattoos. My first one is a turtle on my foot... I got it because I was on senior trip at Myrtle Beach and it was the first time I'd on a vacation with friends, and I wanted to remember it, and plus I love turtles. 2nd one- i have wings on my back b/c I got out of a difficult relationship and it reminds me that i'm always free, and 3rd one is a butterfly with my grandma's name. So there are 3 reasons for u!

i disagree with you wholeheartedly. i think it is dumb when people get spur of the moment tattoos that are meaningless. i think it is amazing and honorable when people adorn their bodies with artful tattoos that have meaning and beauty. i don't think that there is anything at all disfiguring about them. it's just a matter of opinion and the way you look at life. but generally people who get multiple tattoos don't care if you approve of their tattoos or not. those of us whoare heavily tattooed do it for ourselves and not for your own enjoyment.
i think tattoos for the sake of art is a great reason to have one because tattoos ARE art, a very ancient artform that deserves to be shown with pride.
we'll just have to agree to disagree on the matter of tattoos.

well some people just see there bodies as a canvas and want to fill every inch in there own art. every tattoo I have ever seen has a significant story behind it. weather it is the loss of a loved one or some chicks name. but weather or not you see it as dumb doesn't really matter to that person. Because they are comfortable with themselves and don't really care what others think.
